I have 2003 model, 5-speed maual transmission. Had trouble starting engine a few times in last cople of days. Thought I didn't push clutch in all the way. Started after a couple of tries. Eventually would'nt start at all. Procedure: Put manual trans. in neutral, push clutch to floor, and turn key. engine doesn't make any noise at all. Dash board lights and gauges come on, lights work okay, air/con okay (though I usually turn it off when starting) horn works. No clicking noises when turning ignition key. No engine noises at all. Battery was replaced about august of 2010..This is being written Ot 31 2010---I Know Toyota goblins...,Please other suggestions. I looked under hood. A fuse box with diagram showinh location of variuos fuses underneath. One says starter. I intend to try and buy that this morning. My truck is in a parking lot 40 miklres away....trying to avoid having it towed so I need a quick fix if possible...Suggestions? also e-mail me at '[email protected]' Thanks Much....Happy Halloween!!!!

If there is no "clicking noises" at all first you have to bypass the Clutch Start Switch. To do so remove two wires from the Start Switch and connect them together.
If it doesn't work trouble shoot starter and solenoid. With a wire connected to (+) terminal of the battery power up the solenoid, at the thin wire contact of the starter. You need another person to help you, in the cabin turning the ignition key in ON and start position. If starter and solenoid are O.K this will start your car. If not you have to replace the starter + solenoid assembly. Good Luck.

94 Mazda B 2300 truck 5 speed transmission in nuetral and can't put into any gear

can be a normal situation as the teeth ends hit each other and will not mesh
not noticed if the engine is running as the teeth are moving
have you seen the clutch lever moving or are you just assuming it is good
probably didn't/doesn't need a clutch but a clutch master cylinder

Gear not engaging

Make sure the brakes are not siezed. Car in neutral brakes off it should roll being pushed.if it has sat for some time this could be a problem due to rust or contaminated hydraulics , oil in break fluid. Uncommon but it happens.
If maual transmission your clutch may be worn out.
If automatic transmission check the fluid, shift cable, if these checkout the pump inside transmission or the clutch packs may be iopperable.

Code po734, po735

This is what your codes mean:

Trouble Code-P0734 (A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In Fourth Gear)

Trouble Code Conditions:
Vehicle driven to a speed of 4-37 mph at more than 500 rpm, gear selector in 4th Gear in Drive, and the PCM detected too much difference in the engine speed and output shaft speed.

Possible Causes:

  • Customer may complain of intermittent 4th gear operation
  • O/D and 2/4 pressures less than 75 psi
  • O/D or 2/4 clutch volume indexes out of specification
  • O/D accumulator seals are damaged
  • Transmission enters "limp in" mode running in 4th gear

Trouble Code-P0735 (A/T Gear Ratio Error Fourth Prime)

Trouble Code Conditions:
Vehicle driven any forward Gear, and the TCM detected the ratio of the Input speed to the Output Speed did not match the current Gear Ratio (this test can take up to 5 minutes).

Possible Causes:

  • Related Gear Ratio trouble codes may be stored (note that some of these Gear Ratio trouble codes may be intermittent)
  • Transmission has internal problems or damage present
You have a transmission problem.

1987 Topaz, has trouble accelerating.

Most likely it is a transmission problem. Being that old the transmission needs work and possibly the clutch replaced or Throw-out bearing.

Car shuts off while driving, push in clutch, car back to life

that sounds like wiring or connection issue.
I would firstly try getting a wiring schematic of the vehicles loom then find all the earth points and start by cleaning those and making sure there is clean and secure earth connections

Have a 1994 Probe with a 5-speed manual transmission. First thing that happened was all of a sudden every time I would put the clutch in, it would make a loud "screeching" sound, & if I was not moving,...

the screaching sound was most probably the throwout bearing with no grease in it and it has collapsed possibly damaging the pressur plate fingers that the bearing sits on, thats most probably why it felt like the clutch was not engaged when you pushed it in.
I would say you are up for a new clutch and whatever else has been damaged in the process

2003 toyota mr2 spyder 5 speed transmission grinding noise

Here is what is going on. When you push in the clutch pedal you remove the connection between the engine and the transmission. At this time all the parts in the transmission stop rotating.Since the only parts in the transmission that can rotate without moving the car are the input parts we can safely assume that the noise can only be from there. This can be a transmission input bearing. Worn Synchro mechanism (allows the transmission to shift without grinding the gears)Low fluid in the tranny. Or a bad clutch component. Top off or change the fluid. If it still makes the noise you need to take it to a tranny shop.
