Changed coil pack and plug in #5 on 2002 Chrysler 300M.Engine light on put on scanner po300 and 305 come up. Hard to start when cold . Starts fine when warmed up. What's my next step?

possible causes for code P0300
you've already change coil and plug....

P0300 could be bad #3 plug or coil... switch those also and see if code change..

if it persist try the next thing..

I would try trading fuel injector 4 to 5 and putting 5 into 4 and see which code you get.....

  • Faulty spark plug (s)
  • Faulty ignition coil (s)
  • Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s)
  • Intake air leak
  • Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted
  • Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection
  • Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
  • Insufficient cylinders compression
  • Incorrect fuel pressure
code P0305 is simmilar....

  • Faulty spark plug 5
  • Clogged or faulty fuel injector 5
  • Faulty ignition coil 5
  • Fuel injector 5 harness is open or shorted
  • Fuel injector 5 circuit poor electrical connection
  • Ignition coil 5 harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition coil 5 circuit poor electrical connection
  • Insufficient cylinder 5 compression
  • Incorrect fuel pressure
  • Intake air leak

I HAVE REPLACED THE COIL PACKS AND THE COMPUTER ON MY 2006 F150,BUT I STILL GET AN ERROR CODE OF 352.WHY IS THIS ?

P0352 - Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit Description: See the description for DTC P0350. Possible Causes: See the possible causes for DTC P0350. Diagnostic Aids: See the diagnostic aids for DTC P0350. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory Coil-on-plug (COP) ignition testing - GO to Pinpoint Test JF . GO to Pinpoint Test JF . Coil pack ignition testing - GO to Pinpoint Test JE . GO to Pinpoint Test JE .
P0350 - Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary Circuit Description: Each ignition primary circuit is continuously monitored. The test fails when the powertrain control module (PCM) does not receive a valid ignition diagnostic monitor (IDM) pulse signal from the ignition module (integrated in the PCM). Possible Causes:
  • Open or short in the Ignition START/RUN circuit
  • Open coil driver circuit
  • Coil driver circuit shorted to ground
  • Damaged coil
  • Coil driver circuit shorted to VPWR
Diagnostic Aids: Use the 12-volt non-powered test lamp to verify START/RUN voltage at the ignition coil harness connector.
Check the coil driver circuit for open, short to VPWR, or short to ground. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory Coil pack ignition testing GO to Pinpoint Test JC . Coil-on-plug (COP) ignition testing GO to Pinpoint Test JB . Without me testing , it's hard to say what you got going on ! Coil packs ? What engine does it have ? 5.4 L ? should have coil on plug ignition .

Misfiring. Error codes p0306, p0351, p0352

p0306 refers to cylinder 6 misfire detected===causes engine mechanical fault--wiring---ignition/fuel system--injector ---ECT/MAF sensor---ECM
IF there was a mechanical fault (hydraulic follower ) or valve it would be there most of the time and not just on start up. Possible injector fault but I would be inclined to check out the MAF sensor codes p0351 &2 refer to ignition coil A and ignition coil B primary /secondary--circuit malfunction === causes --wiring--ignition coil--ECM ( all causes for the both)
going on this check out the coils and check that the wiring and connections are clean and tight. basically I would be inclined to change out the coils and check /replace the MAF sensor.
change the engine --sounds like advice to get some extra money out of you.

Bad coil pack

If your truck has spark plug wires, you will want to change those as well, as a bad wire can cause an ignition coil to short itself out internally.

98 mercury villager no start , code P 1320

Here is the entire description for the code -

When is the code detected? When the ignition signal in the primary circuit is not sent to Engine Control Module (ECM) during engine cranking or running.

Symptoms- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P1320 NISSAN Description The ignition signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM) is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns on and off the ignition coil primary circuit. This on-off operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit
Possible causes - Faulty power transistor unit built into ignition coil
- Ignition primary circuit is open or shorted (circuit to ignition coils)
- Ignition primary circuit poor electrical connection (circuit to ignition coils)
- Faulty ignition system condenser
- Crankshaft position sensor circuit

help.png Help with this Tech notes The most common cause that will trigger the P1320 code is the ignition coils, one or more ignition coils may have failed. Even tough the coils may be working OK, the resistance for one or more of the coils is greater or smaller that what the Engine Control Module (ECM) is expecting. Measuring the resistance with the coil out of the vehicle may not show any failures, usually the coil fails under heavy conditions (hard acceleration) or certain temperatures.

The P1320 code means that there is problem with the "Ignition Coil" or the wire to the ignition coil. For some models without individual ignition coils the Ignition Coil is inside the distributor and the distributor need to be replaced to fix the problem.

I ran the self diagnostic, and only received one code ,15, which is the ignition system. then i checked for an electrical short and found one in the dome light circuit, i pulled the fuse and im still not...

the code refers to ignition system and the short in the dome light will not affect this as it is on a completely different electrical circuit,it sounds like the ignition coil is either not getting power fed to it or ground circuit has a problem, the ignition coil is no good and needs to be replaced.also it could be a problem with the computer output circuit that feeds the ignition system.or a crank sensor problem in the distributor.

How do i determine whether the problem im having is from the ignition coil being defective, secondary ignition plugs, wires, cap, rotor, poor electrical connection, circuit fault, driver circuit...

The engine has a coil pack that fires the plugs, and the PCM directly drives this coil pack. The codes you report are specific to various parts of the coil pack, so I would suspect the PCM as a likely fault. The camshaft and crankshaft sensors control the timing for ignition and injector pulses, but the codes don't show a problem with them. Check the multi-wire connector to the coil pack for any corrosion on the pins--it's possible that the coil pack itself is at fault, but be aware that parts stores don't accept returns for electrical components if replacing something doesn't fix your problem. I'm not aware of airbag problems affecting the PCM. Be sure to remove the negative battery terminal when working on anything electrical (it will also erase the error codes until the engine runs again). Good luck!
