A thermal switch controls the radiator fan and if the temperature of your radiator is above a preset temperature value, the thermal switch will close and the fan will turn on and will stay on even after you turn the motor off, until your radiator temperature cools down. I wouldn't worry about.

SOURCE: fans run constantly

Irwinr12 is right, no amount of fan will keep the Regal from warming up if the thermostat is working properly, Replace it. Clear SES light with OBDII tool & you should be good to go. BTY its the car computer that keeps the fans running, and they will continue to run until you clear the code. Any kind of cooling/overheating proiblem will kick in the SES light and set both fans running. I own '01 GS, my son has '03 GS and we have both complete set of service manuals. Trust me, do what I say. Batman

SOURCE: cooling relay switch

Relay is in the power distribution center near the battery. does the fan go off when you remove the relay? Relay is turned on by the computer after it receives info from the temp sensor. Why didn't the "guy" order a new relay? Was he a tech in a shop?

SOURCE: engine cooling fan not coming on

It may be the fan itself. Try to find the plug going to the fan, it should be close to the fan and might plug diresctly into the relay. Use two jumper wires straight from the Bat one from the pos+ side and one from the neg- side and plug them into the two holes in the connector the fan should start WATCH YOUR FINGERS. If it starts its elec prob before the fan if not its the fan.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

My fiat Doblo cooling fan stays on when engine is switched off

A significant number of cars have an electric cooling fan supplied by a battery live rather than an ignition live because it is believed the cooling fan should be able to start or to continue running after the engine has been switched off.
Coolant will continue to circulate after switch-off due to thermo-syphon activity and it could reduce mechanical stress on engine components to continue cooling.

Some people modify the cooling system by fitting an additional manual switch to over-ride the thermal switch for use when standing in traffic, for whenever continuous operation is desired or to use in emergency should the thermal switch operation fail.

In the absence of such a modification that has been inadvertently switched on the fault will be due to a faulty thermal switch, a faulty or stuck relay or shorted wiring. Disconnecting the thermal switch should stop the fan and if it does it indicates the switch is faulty. The switch is mostly fitted into the radiator header tank but sometimes is fitted to the bottom tank or the thermostat housing.

Cooling fans run nonstop

Check water temp sensors and fan relays for correct operation. It is not a big problem if the engine is running but it will flatten the battery if the engine is shut down for a period of time.

My cooling fan wont turn on and engin stays at normal temp. how do i know im getting a correct reading i did have to replace the radiator replaced

electric fans only run when it needs to. There should be a Thermal switch on the radiator. Short that switch to Ground and fans should run. Turn On AC and one fan should run.

1986 Mazda 323 coolant fan comes on when motor is hot and stays on.

Is the engine actually cooling off? If the temp switch isn't seeing a drop in temperature, it will keep the fan running.

Radiator Fan Stays On

A simple test would involve disconnecting the fan switch while the fan is on. If the fan then stops the switch has failed. If the fan continues to run remove the relay , if the fan then stops the relay has failed.
Various inputs/outputs at the relay should be confirmed to be 100% certain something strange isn't going on.
Above all be careful of the fan itself , if it's running obviously but if it's not it could start during repair

Does the radiator fan keep running even after switching off the engine

The temperature actuated switch is stuck in the ON position if the cooling fan(s) continue to operate after the engine has cooled down. Locate the defective sensor switch and replace it to eliminate the problem. This could be continuous or intermittent and either way if the switch is faulty it should be replaced.
