Gary, I've seen this hundreds of time on car lots where the mouse has eaten the wires somewhere and the vehicle won't start and run. Look around at all the wiring and if you see any eaten wires then fix the wire and you should be good to go.
WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU CHANGED/CLEANED THE EXTERNAL FUEL FILTER...IF IT HAS ONE? ALSO CHECK THE AIR CLEANER AND ALL ASPIRATING EQUIPMENT FOR BLOCKAGE.
SOMETIMES, MICE, CHIPMUNKS, SQUIRRELS, ETC...WILL BUILT A NEST IN AN INTAKE HOUSE, THE FILTER BOX, AND RESTRICT AIR/FUEL FLOW. CHECK THESE FIRST
My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan was missing the plastic cover
for the cabin air filter compartment. Since the cabin air filter is right next
to the blower motor, it's the first place the cold AC air can blast out instead
of being properly channeled through the duct work and vents. On my van it's located under the dash at passengers' left
foot, maybe yours is the same? Take a look under the dash, you'll see the edge
of the cabin air filter exposed in an opening roughly 1.5" X 10". You
can special order a new cover at the dealer or pull one at your favorite junk
yard. It's a good time to install new filter. Pull out the old filter and use a
flashlight to look up in the compartment. Mice like to nest there.
check air filter. may be very dirty or you may have a nest inside of the box causing low air flow into the engine, causing vibration. start there. i have seen cars towed in not running, because they/mice/chipmunk?? had huge nest made out of the carpet underlayment in the air box which is foam and it didnt give the engine enough air to even run , because it was starving for air and car needs air to run. Is the check engine light on?? while engine is running??
Start with the fuel filter. Add some fuel additive (Power Servie) to your tank the next couple of fill ups. A little stronger than what they ask for.
Make sure you have a clean air filter and no obstructions in air flow. My brother let his 6.5 sit all last winter. Tried to jump in and start it but it ran like ****. A couple of mice built a nest with the filter material and plugged up the truck. Just a thought.
Check other end from air cleaner duct, where it hooks to the throttle body, some thing could have gotten stuck in there, holding the flap open some what making it idle high.
Check the obvious...spark and fuel. Make sure there aren't any obstructions in the air system (after that time it is possible for a mouse to have built a nest in there I've also seen them build a nest inside the exhaust...make sure at least something is coming out while cranking). If you have a security system, make sure it isn't locking you out of starting. Most need to have the door lock locked and unlocked using the key (on some, rear hatch) Fuel has a one month storage life so that may not be helping, but with starter fluid, it should at least kick over but I wouldn't expect it to run really great till the next tank full. Speaking of mice, take a good look at the harnesses to make sure none have been chewed up (doesn't matter where you stored it, I've seen that happen just about everywhere)
under the glove box, pull out plastic push pin holding plastic duct work and remove duct piece, three screws holding blower motor cover, remove them, then disconnect blower motor wires at connector, remove three screws holding motor up in place. watch the mice don't fall on you!
