Where and how to put R 134a refrigerant in

I have purchased a stop leak product and 1 can of R 134 a refrigerant. Is this something I can do myself? It has a slow leak but the mechanic can't find the leak. Previous owner (close friend of family) filled the refrigerant last year and it lasted all summer into the beginning of this summer. Can't afford a mechanic.

Adding a can of refrigerant might temporarily solve the problem.
A car of that vintage could have wide variety of problems. Since you have purchased the refrigerant, you should have a friend that has done this before show you how to do it. Don't be surprised if that does not solve the problem. I would recommend that you return the stop leak, and refrigerant, save your money and hire a professional to fix it. Find a grey haired auto air conditioning mechanic that is familiar with that year and model car. They should be able to determine quickly if it just low refrigerant or something more expensive.

A/C compressor front seal leaks 134a. Can the can of 134a with leak sealer really seal the leak?

No, the stop leak is designed to seal a leaky O-Ring. I have never seen anything fix a compressor seal other than replacement.

THE A/C HAS STOPPED COOLING. THINK I NEED TO CONVERT OVER TO 134A AND CHARGE THE COOLING SYSTEM. HOW DO I DO THAT? 93 FORD CROWN VIC

A shop needs to do this for you. Special tools and training are needed. In your case, the 134A leaks easier that R-12, so an evacuation and leak test needs to be performed and any leaks repaired before installing new refrigerant. Also, it is ILLEGAL to discharge R-12, so it will need to be recovered. Take the car to a shop.

The ac only blows warm air, have recharged it with freon but it only cools minutes before blowing warm again, could find no leaks

There are special cans of R-134A with dye in them for detecting leaks. Most leaks occur around the fittings near the compressor. Recharge the system with the leak detector can or R-134A. There are also cans of R-134A with an additive to stop leaks. I would use these products to either detect your leak or to stop it. Best of luck.

What recharge A/C refrigerant is used for a 1999 Chevy S10 pickup

On a 1999 s-10, your correct refridgerant is r-134a. I don't understand why wisconsin won't allow you to purchase r-134a at a auto parts store. R-12 is the refridgerant that has been banned in the US, and requires ASE air conditioning certification to purchase. I've never heard of any law anywhere prohibiting the purchase of r-134a.

Anyway, your system is a r-134a system.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
