Intermittantly occurs when vehicle left standing for several hours. Symptoms are loss of power or no power when increase when throttle opened. When foot taken off throttle some times get misfiring and clouds of smoke. Continue to drive and problem persists. Switch off engine and restart , problem goes away. Orinally occured several months ago and then wnet away . Now more frequent. Garage has chnaged fuel pump and injector coils ?? Problem persists , any ideas ??
Engine has FSH and has done approx 60000 miles.
Check for oil in the injector loom going to the ECU

could also be the air flow meter starting to give trouble
I have a 97 disco starts fine but when it warms up & you put your foot hard on the accelerator it looses power if your easy with the accelerator it slowly picks up speed?
I had the same problem....turned out to be the EGR valve sticking. It's a common problem and most adept owners simply remove it either completely, or disable it, without any issues (emissions etc)
Disabling is by far the easiest option, doesn't cost a single penny, takes a couple of minutes and you will need a 13 mm spanner and 2 small screws or similar with which to plug 2 plastic pipes (which you MUST do as they are tied into the vacuum system and will affect brake servo function elsewhere on the car)
1) Using your 13 mm spanner, remove the 3 bolts securing the plastic engine cover(1 bolt on one side of the cover, 2 bolts on the other side). This gives access to the EGR valve and vacuum servo and the pipes
2) You will see two Blue plastic pipes connected to the EGR and its servo (marked with an "X" in the picture below). Gently pull them off.
3) You have to plug the ends of these tubes with something...a couple of small self-tapping screws or plastic plugs, anything as long it fits in tightly is ideal (I used a couple of plastic landrover lining inserts as in the picture below). The tubes are routed together within the engine compartment inside a length of black flexi conduit. Make sure that when you remove and plug the pipes from the EGR that you ty-wrap them aside from the engine block, there are other pipes n stuff to secure them to - There is no need to bother trying to plug the EGR / servo, it's redundant now.
4) Take the car for a trial spin to see if your problem is solved. If it is then great, you can then open the bonnet and replace the engine cover and it's "job done"Here's a pic of the EGR Valve and the plastic pipes which you must plug:
