Water collected in my dashboard and now the fan doesn't work. When I called the dealer he told me that there was a small valve that was probably clogged. I cleaned it and some of the water came out, but its still leaking into the passenger side. I've been reading that there is a simple way to fix it, but I also read on one of these boards that there is a recall, but I can't find any information about it. How do I get it out, and is it possible to repair the fan myself?

As far as changing the fan out..It depends on what car you have. Some are very hard to get to because there behind the glove box. I would get the water out. Let it all dry. Then check the fuse box. It might just have blown a fuse because it got wet...if it did it will be a the bigger number fuse...Like 20 or 30 amp. Also you can swap fuses to check them. as long as they are the same number.

Sarah what valve did you clean? If your talking about the AC /heater fan it might be that you have leaves and pine straw clogging the drain lines.open your hood.Go to passenger side windshield..Rain water drains through the holes under wipers. If you park under trees over time the drain lines will clogg up. The drain line is under car. You can take a small pencil and gfy to drain it. But to clean it out you have to take off the part at windshield. Then you will see the valley pit where the air comes into your fan. You also will see the leaves clogging it up. You can see the drain line after you clean it running under car to drip on ground while it rains. This is what's happening to you....It gathers water while it rains because its clogged up. The water raises then goes through a air filter meant for air not water then over flows into your fan area.and then over flows into your car..Like I said...Quick fix to under car and poke a pencil up into line...Watch water drain out. To clean out you have to take it apart from top side of car at windshield wipers...Hope this helps

SOURCE: convertible leaks

Look for a plugged drain at both rear side panels. Water from the top can enter the car, but it is then discharged out thru drains. If the drains are clogged, you will have this problem. Same for any other Toyota convertible.

SOURCE: Water leak on the passenger rug for 2003 Corolla

well if you have water or coolant leaking on to the rug in your car, first you must remember that every car has 2 radiators. One for the Engine which is in the front of your car under the hood and one for your heater, which is usually hidden deep behind the dash inside of your car. So if you are leaking fluids on to the rug in the car; Im 90% sure its going to be something dealing with the heater radiator. What you have to do is find out where your heater radiator is on your car and check all the hoses.

SOURCE: water leaks in above and behind dashboard

There is only one thing that will cause it if you have a Sun roof and that is the water drain pipe from the roof to the wheel arch were it drains out and this bunged up,so blow it out with air compressor or high water pipe.
IF no to sunroof then its the windscreen leaking at the top and you might not beable to see it it will be at the top But dont try and fix it as the screen has to come out to do the job correctly.
But if only leaks water on floor and not on top of dash it could be the vent under windscreen were the wipers go and the vent drains the rain also to the left and right side of wheel arch, then they can be blocked and overflowing into the air box for the heater because that is where the air comes from when on FRESH AIR for heater..So check them out and do as required it shouldent cost you anything unless its the screen out..Job Have a goodday Let me know how you get on Ron

The heat does not get warm when I turn the temperature all the way up and allow it to run for several minutes. The fan blower is working, the fuse is not blown, what could it be?

the way your interior heater works is by using water from the engine cooling system.
Behind the dashboard is a small version of the engine radiator and its plumbed into the cooling system and to control the water flow is a valve thats connected to the dial on the dash.
It seems the connection between that valve and the dash control is your issue

Someone tried to steal my 2008 Jeep patriot and now my headlights don't work and my heat doesn't seem to be as hot. There wasn't any wires or noticeable damage from the steering column except...

I'd say so! THey probably tried to start it by pulling wires under the dashboard like on television. Check the wires coming out of the headlight switch to see if one or more isn't pulled off. Also check around the stearing post for the wire that connects the high beam/low beam switch. The heater is another problem. Is the heater fan working? If so the problem mis the thermostat control...check that it still opens/closes the valve on the hot water hose that goes into the dashboard core.

Why doesn't my heater work in 2004 Chevrolet Impala

First check the Fluid level in the Radiator while engine is cool and add if necessary. If that is ok, then you probably have a bad circuit board on the Blower fan, or the blower itself, those are together under the passenger side dashboard. water leakage caused my wife's to go because the drains at the bottom of windshield were clogged with dirt and rotting leaves. Cost around $50-$100 if you do it yourself and get parts online cheaper!

My 2004 pontiac grand am cooling fan doesn't work what do i need to do

The cooling fan can be run through a self diagnostic by a dealer using a special tool called a scanner, it will then deliver back to the tech what is found, this can be any number of things, the fan motor wiring to it or the controller for the fan. Guessing is not an option and if you keep overheating this engine you will shortly need a new one.

My heater and ac fan speed is not working is the blower motor bad initially it was working on the number 3 setting only but now doesn;t work at all

Your blower motor is probably fine, it is the electronic mechanism that governs the speed of it that has gone haywire. Call the dealer and asked them where it is and how much. Then go to a junkyard and grab one.

1993 Audi 90 cs Quattro Screwed up!!

Regarding your radiator leak, some can be fixed but plastic radiators usually get replaced. A 1993 probably would need a fan switch by now if it was never replaced especially if it's the fan switch that is screwed into the radiator and is exposed to coolant. Again, a car this old would probably need a new water pump too but screwing up the valves is definitely his fault and should pay for all repairs. I'd have someone else do the repairs like the car dealer and charge him for it! Take it to small claims court if necessary. Lastly, if you signed an invoice to just have the radiator fixed and nothing else, your case is strong. If you signed an agreement giving him permission to do "whatever needed in his best judgement", well, your case weakens a bit in regard to having all the other parts replaced but he's still a fool for bending your valves. Sorry to hear of your encounter with this. Please post the name of this shop for the rest of us will know to stay away from it.
