Yes, there is a relay, probably in the engine compartment battery relay box. If the relay fails, oil pressure will allow the pump to run, so the relay is likely to be your problem.

98 gmc jimmy only start when primed at the throttle body then runs fine until shut off then needs to be primed again to start

This happened to me I had to spray Starting fluid everytime eventually. Starting fluid wouldn't work after awhile. Its the fuel pump. Even though it comes on and works its not producing enough fuel pressure to start the engine. It's probably giving about 12-13lbs of pressure but it needs atleast 14lbs. of pressure. And a word of advice to buy a ACDelco original fuel pump if you don't want to have to replace it again in 1-2 years, it's more expensive but will last.

No fuel to throotle body truck will not start. Only start if prime the throttle body then shut off

you can attempt to run it w. starting fluid to make sure the engine is running aside of fuel issues. You may need to replace the fuel filter/regulator if it is a single piece. If it's definitely not getting fuel, its either a pump/filter/regulator issue, or an electrical issue. You can generally hear the fuel pump running when the engine is on if you are close enough to it. you can almost always hear it prime. if all is good and the fuel pump can be determined to not be at fault, change the filter and try again.

1995 Gmc Jimmy Starting Problem

If the engine is using a carburetor, the top gasket maybe leaking evaporating the fuel in the bowl. Check or replace the solenoid switch on the starter body.

1996 GMC JIMMY won't start

I think 54 p.s.i. on fuel pressure is close to border line, Are the injectors pulsating, You can have fire at the plugs but if injectors are not pulsating it will not run. I know there were problems with the injections systems on blazers and jimmys around that year, i would look closer to the injection system.

Cranks, fuel pump is running, but engine will not start without priming Throttle Body with gasoline, then starts immediately.

Have you Replaced the Fuel Filter Yet???? How long does it run when Primed? Does it just Burn what is in the Bowl and Die?
