Hi this sounds like the EGR needs to be replaced as the voltage has exceeded its normal rate this is a sign of component failing these are not repairable and you will need a new one, i have put a link on here for you so you can see the in's and out's of the egr valve for you, these are normally located on the fire wall/bulk head just below the panel that holds the wiper motor mechanism but it could be anywhere in that area, the link also includes how to test these. http://www.kulls.com/egrsensors.htm

    P1401 - DPFE Circuit High Input

    Description Of The Code:
    The EGR monitor checks the DPF EGR sensor signal to the PCM for high voltage. The test fails when the average voltage to the PCM goes to a voltage greater than the maximum calibrated value.

    Possible Causes:
  • DPF EGR circuit open.
  • VREF short to PWR.
  • Damaged DPF EGR sensor.
  • DPFEGR circuit short to PWR.
  • SIG RTN circuit open.
  • Damaged PCM.

    • Possible Solution:
    A DPF EGR PID reading greater than 4.5 volts with the key ON and engine OFF or running indicates a hard fault.

    Check engine light
    go to your local auto parts store usually they will pull the codes from the car for free once you have the trouble code that is causing the check engine light to come on you can more accurately identify the problem. most shops charge around 90 dollars to check these codes.
