My 1999 AWD T&C'[s transmission will not shift. Before it quit there appeared a struggling clunki9ng sound making it hard to shift from forward to reverse. The fluid looks find and there is no burnt smell. Could it be the linkage and if so , how do I check it? I have not tried anything yet Thank You Sam Oree

If your van has alot of miles, then just ignore it. Get a sevice done on it and let it warm up a bit and see if that helps the problem. When the miles get put on, especially with little maintaince, they have a hard time engaging "cold turkey". Another factor is that going from Rev to Drive(1st) you are going from energizing one accumulator to energizing two, and you're switching from the Rev clutch to the Underdrive clutch which tends to bleed off pressure the most.

find out why the light is on and fix it. This will most likely be a trans wiring issue that the light is on for.

Filter could need changing or it needs a small adjustment. unfortunately this requires equipment you most likely do not have. Have the trans serviced to resolve.
