The lid is hanging up on the filter. See if you can reach your hand in and push the filter down. It may be easier if you remove the duct from the lid.

Its made like a diaper pin. push in and slide it over a lil bit. (kinda hard to explain )

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Pull back the weather seal and you'll be able to get to remove the bolts securing the outer handle on

remove the door cards and the plastic sheeting. you can get to the handles from here. i used a piece of copper welding rod with the top bent over. worked a treat

Unsure if this is specifically related to your actual problem but there is a TSB on the side door sliders for 2004, I had mine replaced under warranty.

come it does slide out, but don't break it.
When I pull on it the bottom casing comes with it so I'm afraid I'll break it if i pull too hard
please seek professional help, the box costs about $150.00 so please don't break it, ask a sales person at kragen to help or take it to the dealer.
