Ford Explorer Oil change rest message

Can't find where to reset the "change oil" message on 2005 ford explorer (eddie bauer)

  • excelsearch Dec 02, 2008

Almost every time I get an oil change at Ford - they forget to reset the light. The dash reset alone does not do the trick. There is a sequence of steps to reset the oil light so that you do not turn off an annoying but helpful warning. The answer for this is not in the owners manual and my dealer has one of the service people do this, but even they have to do it more than once to get it right. Not all answers are in the manual.

Turn ignition on. Don't start the car. When the message shows up press setup. It will tell you to press reset to reset the oil life to 100 %.

Obviously, if you are not able to understand the simple instructional help of pressing the SETUP BUTTON and hold it till it gets to the resetting mode, then release it and then pressing the button until you see the change oil section, you are not smart enough to do it and should have a professional person do it or at least someone who is smart enough to understand this basic fix.

I need to find the oil drain plug on a 92 ford explorer eddie bauer.

Hello, it on the side or bottom of the oil pan. The oil pan is the bottom end of the engine. This is were the oil is stored and were the oil pick up the oil for lubrication of the engine. It is a 5/8" plug with a copper or fiber washer. If you are changing the oil make sure that drain plug has it copper or fiber was on it. If not, the plug will leak little droplets. GB...stewbison

Not able to reset oil change light 2006 ford explorer eddie bauer

Try disconnecting the battery for five minutes to reset the computer. You might want to write down your radio station settings. Some radios retain memory and some don't.

How often do I need to get my oil changed in my 2007 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer?

Well, that is a matter of opinion. I really prefer every 2500 miles. Your oil becomes contaminated unless FULLY heated up on every use. Oil can last a really long time, but failure in the oiling costs soooo much to repair, I just change more often. Perhaps costs less than a shrink....
