Car was working fine, went to re-start it then the engine would turn over, but engine would not fire. The fuel injection is working (you can hear it) the battery is new, there is plenty of fuel, normal ignition lights come on. There is no water in the distributor fuses all seem to be fine.

That could be caused by an electrical short from an aftermarket add-on. I've see it from fog lights and a bad alarm system module.

SOURCE: Won't start

Grab a spark plug, any spark plug even a spare for your lawn mower, and plug it into any spark plug wire, and lay it on the valve cover. Crank it over and have somebody verify rather or not there is spark, obviously you don't want to hang on to the plug or wire. After spark is or isn't there get back to me and we'll continue to trouble shoot.

3.5L '04 Pacifica - I hear the fuel pump, engine cranks, but won't fire, unless I inject starter fluid (ether) in throttle body. Then the engine will run flawlessly until I shut off engine. Will restart...

This sounds like a fuel delivery issue. The fact that the engine starts and runs when you add starter fluid suggests that there is a problem with the fuel pump or the fuel pressure. It could also be a problem with the fuel filter or the fuel injectors. It would be best to have a mechanic diagnose and fix the issue.

My mazda 323 b6 injecters are firering at the same time anf the cars does not start

Listen for the fuel pump to turn on with the key ON. Do you hear it buzz on for a couple of seconds, and then shut off? If you do, the pump is working. If you don't hear it, the pump is bad or the wiring to the pump is not working. Check the relay.
Usually, on a four cylinder with multi-port injection, injectors 1 and 3 fire simultaneously, and then injectors 2 and 4 will fire at same time (because their ground wires are spliced together before entering the computer. When the computer internally grounds the wire, the injectors will pulse). Are you certain that all four are pulsing at same time? If so, that may be the Mazda way. But I think you are right to believe it is a fuel problem. Test the pump as stated above, key on (not start) and listen for pump to turn on.
Good luck.

1988 toyota camry 2.0 turns over but won't start. Car has been driving like a champ and one morning wouldn't start. Turns over fine but won't fire. Tested for spark by removing spark plugs...

Fuel pressure at idle is normally 30-35psi. Start by taking the gas cap off, and putting it back on. That will De-pressurize the fuel system. Also, make sure you have gas in the car. I have seen gauges on these cars read wrong. I hope this helps.

My car has been sitting for 3 years and now I can't get it to start. Is there any way of checking if fuel is getting through the fuel injection? That is what it sounds like to me; that no fuel is getting...

when you first turn the key, don't start the car just turn it to on, you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime, if you really want you could pull the injector out and see if its spraying, they are pretty easy to pull out of the motor.

CAR WONT START

If the car fired after pouring gas into the engine, then you should check your fuel pump, listen when you turn on the key, if you hear the fuel pump start and stop, then check your fuel pressure, all fuel injected vehicles have fuel pressure regulators, if your fuel pump isnt pushing enough pressure to the regulator the car will not start, and if it does start it wont operate properly, and may even leave you stranded.. If your fuel pressure is low, check the fuel filter, dirty filters restrict pressure, and are ALOT cheeper to replace than a fuel pump!

I have a 2002 Alero. The car will turn over but will not fire up.

Need more information. If the starter is cranking, then look at fuel delivery. Is there gas in the tank? Is the fuel Pump running, do you hear the electric pump run and then stop when the ignition is turned on?
Is the Check-Engine light on? Any codes?

My 1989 Pontiac Trans Am has a 305 Tune Port Injection engine that won't start. There is spark in all electrical components, fuel pressure but still won't start. We have replaced the computer and still...

Come to find out after spending $560.00 on electric parts that were not needed, the number 5 fuel injector was shorting out causing the engine not to start. It would turn over but wouldn't catch. I unplugged the injector and it started right up. I let it run for a bit and while running, plugged it back in and sure enough, the engine stalled. This particular engine had us going crazy. We thought if an injector went bad at least have the engine would run. Apparently this one has a safety mechanism on it so half the engine won't warp for working while the other half don't. The injector will be replaced very soon and will be back in perfect running condition.

1997 BMW M3 3.2 EVO

Your fuel injection pressure is probably leaking down causing gasoline to leak into the cylinders and resulting in a hard hot starting condition due to "flooding" of the engine. Try holding the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor of the car like your trying to go maximum speed down the highway and crank the engine for 10 seconds or less at a time. That tells your computer to enter the "clear flood" mode and stop injecting gas into the engine. Ask your repair shop to measure the fuel pressure and see if the pressure is bleeding off too rapidly.
