When it's colder outside and I start my Blazer, there is a constant ticking noise that comes from the engine area. Once the truck warms up, the ticking goes away (after 5 minutes or so) but when you press the gas pedal, the speed of the noise gets faster. I went to have this checked about a year ago and I was told it could be the lifters, but they said that's something that can't be fixed. Does this sound like anything familiar to anyone? The clicking goes away, like I said, but something can't be right if it makes the noise. When it's warm, it doesn't make any noise at all, so if anyone has any suggestions/help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Your lifters have become clogged over the years. Its only after the oil warms up and thins out does it allow oil to "pump up" the lifters. That's why it goes quiet after 5 min. There are several different brands of additives on the market that can fix this problem ,unless you have a more serious mechanical problem, which I doubt.Check your local auto parts store for the additive. Just add it to your oil and "wham!" problem solved. Good Luck!

Does it do it when cold or every time you start it? if it does it every time then I would pull the valve cover off of that side and see if there is a loose rocker nut, if notthen you have a lifter going bad, or has carbon sticking in it.
