I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute. The airbag light in the dash counsel comes on because of a loose connection with the plug connector located under the passenger seat. I have had it replaced once and sometimes I can jiggle it so that it works but only for a time. When the seat is moved or anything stowed under it this hyper sensitve connection goes bad. Any suggestions?

I had both issues, it was a wiring harness for the Airbag and the motor for the steering column.

SOURCE: Where is the ignition coil pack located on 2002

The ignition power pack and (aka ignition coil) is located on the 2004 Mazda MPV at the end of each spark plug wire on top of the spark plug. The front ones are easy to replace and all 3 can be done in about 30 min. The back ones are another issue. I had to take off the intake manifold on the top of the engine to get to them. This was about a 5 hour job. The installation of the new unit is pretty simple once you gain access to them. you simply disconnect a clip on wire and take out one screw and reverse the process to put in the new ones. Factory units run about $80 each. You can get them at other locations in after markets for as low as $55. Good Luck.

All I want to do is find the OBD2 port on my 2004 Mazda Tribute. I have a device to plug in but the photos I've seen so far don't fit my "truck/car".

Under the dash in front of the driver is the most common position. Below is a picture of the OBD2 diagnostic plug

Air bag warning light keeps coming on

There are cables for the Airbag's under each front seat. Disconnect the battery from the car (It's safer, because messing with the cables while battery is connected could deploy airbags and cause a hefty repair bill). The connector/ cables under the seats like to get loose if you move your seats around a lot or if you got the 3-door Version. Get some electrical contact cleaner and clean the connectors and it cables. and assure that they are connected properly. When you connect the battery back on the error should be cleared. If the airbag light comes bag on, check the connector inside the roof of the glovebox, that one likes to get loose as well. It should be a orange or blue connector if I remember correctly.
Best of luck,
Maria

Where are the spark plugs located in an 2002 Mazda tribute

On a Mazda Tribute you must remove the plastic engine cover. Once that is removed you should see the spark plugs. They will be on the top of the engine with caps on them. you must undo the cap and remove it on each spark plug to have access to the spark plug.

The airbag light came on and stayed on for no reason.

I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.

Blinking Airbag light

That is the "S" sensor, located under the dash between the defroster vents, the dash has to come out, it might have bad connections going to the module ( blue box) located under the dash around the steering column.
