SOURCE: chirping noise at 2000 rpm

is it coming from the breaks. break pads have a small piece of metal that are meant to touch the rotor to make a noise like you are describing as to inform the owner that new breaks are needed.

That is really quick, like you are getting no water flow at all. Make sure that a radiator hose is not collapsing enough to stop the flow. If possible on that model, take off the radiator cap and shine a light to see if the water passages in the radiator are clogged up with rust or sediment. If this started after the new thermostat was installed, make sure it was not put in backwards.

It could be the belt they need to be changes. The tensioner pulley or idler pulley are usually the problem. If the belt came off I would suspect tensioner pulley. If you replace one replace belt, tensioner and idler pulley.

Strange noises

Most certainly belt or accessory noise. My guess is the tensioning wheel bearing is shot. Take the belt off and see if the tension wheele spins smooth or rattles

Why is my dynamic tensioner making noise at cold start-up?

If it is a timing belt driven pump and you are asking about the timing belt tensioner you should not take any chances but dismantle again to discover where the new noise is coming from.

An auxilliary belt noise could be a little less urgent but as it has the advantage of greater accessibility it would be better to at least know where the noise is coming from rather than merely hoping it isn't important.

Noise in the drive belt area and how to replace the belt

Depending on the engine size and year, some belt routing is on the belt cover. Check the alignment of the crank pulley or harmonic balancer, a common problem . Most jeeps tension the belt by the power sterring pump or a tensioner pulley next to power sterring .

Strange noise coming from under cam belt cover ...

Either the water pump pulley is failing or cam tensioner, its quite common on peugeots engines it can be fixed but its a pain to do if your not mechanically minded. the engine mounts have to come off. It shouldnt be expensive to put i the garage.

dont drive it though it may snap and wreck the engine.

Squeeling belt, have replaced idler pulley, squeels when idling and turning with a/c on. Could it be the power steering pump?

Try using a very small spray of silicone spray on the belt next time you're hearing the squeal. If it temporarily stops, replace the belt. Check the p/s fluid level, if it's low it could cause the pump to make noise. Also if it's low, you have a leak, check all lines, connections and pull back the bellows boots on the p/s rack (if rack and pinion). Finally, pick yourself up a mechanic's stethescope, good tool for diagnosing accesory noises. Listen to all components while duplicating the noise.

2004 Ford Taurus V6 noise underhood appears to be belt

Sounds like a bad idler pulley,or belt tensioner. Most likely not water pump since the check engine light is not on. Altho it couold be the water pump and for some reason (bad sensor, burnt out light) the check engine isnt coming on. Either way it would be best to have it looked at.
