Get the code. Codes never tell you to change a sensor, they just indicate the problem circuit they are seeing. Only sometimes it is a failure of the sensor.
You probably need test equipment like a digital voltmeter. Maybe join a neon forum to find out how others solved the problem.
Hello,
Here are 3 very common causes for the isuues you're having.
1. Dirty air filter.
2. Faulty MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor.
3. Faulty oxygen sensor.
These 3 things prevent the on board computer from determining the proper fuel/air mix ratio, and leads to symtoms like, poor acceleration, poor MPG, loss of power, fack stalling, and stalling.
There are two oxygen sensors: one is upstream of the catalytic converter and one downstream of the catalytic converter. The oxygen sensor, or O2 sensor is usually located near the catalytic converter.Oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic converter in the exhaust system on the back of the engine.-------Thanks.Helpmech
if your standing in front of the car facing the engine. It's on the right side behind the rear of the head. It's square with 4 10mm bolts and a plug in thats a pain to get unpluged sometimes.
this is a very very simple procedure. you do not need pics. there is a sensor located at the end of the engine on the far side from the belts. at the top. it has a plug with two wires in it. just remove the two 10mm bolts un hook the plug and reverse the process to reinstall. if you have a factory intake you may have to remove it to access this sensor. just the intake tube.
Yes, Any reading beyond the specification is bad.
The oxygen sensor reads in milli volts. I would have the Oxygen sensor changed out first. Then I would have the system reset.
