Does not turn over. new battery, lights bright, electrics all work fine. I jumped in and it started perfect, drove to the bank and when I was done.....nothing. The positive battery connector was in pretty bad shape so I replaced it....I suspect the neutral saftey switch or sensor that controls it.....but really don't know.
Bad silonoid on starter
the actual cable on starter is bad even though you replaced the positive battery connector the whole cable could be bad
also your new battery might not be a heat battery example= a battery that cannot handle heat and will die on you this indicates a dead cell in battery
bad alternator not charging battery
bad ignition coil
scorched spark plug wiring
dead cell in battery even though the battery can show good it can still be bad
battery's these days are usually refurbished battery's practically every one recycles batterys so its a chance that you got a bad battery try a jump then while vehicle running disconnect the positive post of battery if vehicle dies its the alternator
i myself had to do a battery swap 4 times before i got a refurbished battery without a dead cell this something that is a pain but once you get a good battery then everything should work

after u had it jumped u drove it to the zone so the alternator was workin--it seems like the regulator is not functionin to charge batt--theres somethin goin on in the electrics thats frying ur reg these new cars r very complex--do a scan to see any bad codes and a harness wire chec may be helpful
i would start by checking the connections on the battery and having the battery tested, also why where you taking it to the shop?, if the connection are dirty a jump start wont work, they may look clean but loosen them and twist them on battery terminals to make good connection then tighten them ,and make sure battery is fully charged,
Most vehicles if you get the car running and unhook the positive battery cable it will stay running that is because it is running off the alternator. if it dies like your talking about I would most definitely say your alternator needs to be replaced. Most likely when you jumped your father in laws pick up there was a bad ground somewhere and your alternator got a surge of electricity and it fried it. Hope this helps.
