My 2004 BMW Z4 is showing 2 vertical lines, 2 horizonal lines and 2 more vertical lines on the radio display. I turn off the car and turn it back on and it clears the problem for about 5 seconds and then back to the lines, it looks something like this

NEED TO RESET OIL CHANGE LIGHT

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system.
Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset the Engine Oil Life System:
Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the DIC for more than five seconds. The oil life will change to 100%.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Engine light is on oil level is good

Do you mean the Check-Engine light? If so, have the car scanned for codes and post them here and we can take it further. If it's the oil light that is on, you may have a faulty sender. If it's the Service Oil Soon reminder on the info display, that's a reminder to change your oil (which you should be able to reset with the instrument cluster stalks) - that doesn't monitor the oil, but it's a timed interval reminder based on miles driven. The idea is to reset it each time the oil is changed, so that when it comes back, you know to change the oil.
