I have a 1998 Volvo s70 manual. My engine light came on this morning. Stopped at an auto parts store and the did a diagnostic for me finding it needs an Engine Coolant Temp sensor (AutoZone, #TU251 part). I need to know where that is on the engine, is there an on-line diagram to look at? How accessible is it? Could low anti-freeze cause this? When I returned home and shut my car off the engine cooling fan continued to run...also...I noticed the heat coming out of the inside vents cooled as I was coming home...my husband is thinking maybe it needs coolant...which is likely to be true...but would that have anything to do with the sensor going off and the code saying it was the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor? Thank you for your assistance.

SOURCE: Replace Heater Core for Volvo S70 (1999)

It is your heater core. I fixed mine for $144. Ordered the new part on Ebay and followed these instructions http://www.volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=9717 It was very simple, I'm a middle age grandmother! The hardest part was cleaning up all the antifreeze. You will need a shopvac, a small one is $20 at WalMart.

1998 volvo s70 part question

Fuel line is about it. Any part for a volvo is extremely hard to find. Where exactly is it leaking at? If it is a plastic type hose you should be able to look in the ends and there are o rings in there that can be replaced versus changing out the whole hose. If it is a metal one most auto part stores can make a new one. I might be able to find the oem part number for you and then you can google the number to find the hose. Let me know if you are interested in that.

Scan it from the OBDII System to find out for sure or remove the Alternator and have it tested at your local Auto Parts Store.

Electronic Ignition Fault Light On

It is probably due to a faulty sensor somewhere, but without proper diagnostic equipment it is virtually impossible to tell which one.

A modern fuel injected engine will have sensors to monitor throttle position, manifold pressure, coolant temperature, air temperature, crank speed, camshaft position, exhaust gas oxygen, pre-ignition, etc, etc, etc.

Diagnostic equipment will be able to read the fault code from the vehicles computer and tell you where the fault lies.

The light cannot be reset manually. It will go out once the fault has been rectified.

Hope this helps!
