If you just replaceD the engine in your 2005 Kia Spectra, was the replacement engine a good one? It sounds to me like it's a starter or starter solenoid issue! Try "hot-wiring" the starter solenoid, to see if the engine cranks. All security systems are "low level" in terms of current control. But a DIRECT connection from a good battery to the starter solenoid should engage it, which should complete the circuit from the battery to the starter motor.
Parking switch damaged. The two starting positions P and N both have a separate safety switch which allows starter motor to crank only in these two positions.
Replace the "Parking Starting switch".
If it is the starter solenoid you are refering too, it is nearest the firewall, mounted to the engine through the transmission. Should be 3 bolts I believe. It is part of the starter mounted directly on top. If "no crank" is the issue, then you may be looking at replacing the starter motor with solenoid assembly. You can actually get a better look from underneath the vehicle just above the right hand(passenger side) axle where it goes into the transmission.
it is probably the starter assuming the engine isnt locked up. I would check to see if you have battery voltage at the starters solenoid wire with the key in the start position if you do i would check the fuses and starter relay
