I have 1999 ford escort wiyh 2.0 engine,it wont start .it pops then just turns over.tested fuel pump(holds at 40 lbs.).changed plugs,have plenty of spark.tested fuel injector ohms all read 17 but #1 is reading 20 ohms,dont know what it could be other than getting into the timeing belt stuff what else should or could i check before takeing timeing cover off,which is a job in itself

try www.autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you

good old ford lol, try looking at the crank sensor its located at the front of the engine tucked in right hand side of exhaust manifold and gearbox, two pin plug, i have also known these to have no end of faults with the fusebox.
easy to remove, and solder the connections inside they all suffer eventually, if your not to handy with cars i recommend taking to a auto electrician, easy if you know how. Good luck Davelee

The spark is to weak change the crank sensor.If that does not solve the problem then its the coil pack that needs to be replaced

fuel pressure regulator could hav failed-located by engine or the ignition module may not be workin-by dist area try not to be a parts replacer-buy a repair book
