This is a pretty common issue for Trailblazers to have. Here's a link with more information about these GM gauge problems. And where you can purchase replacement parts on Amazon if you want to do the repair yourself.

There is a sender unit in the gas tank something like the ball in a toilet tank.An electric current is sent through this unit and depending on the resistance will register fuel level in the tank. Simply put these wear out,you can't service them and they have to be replaced. Good luck.

Have a problem with gas gauge on a 2004 Chevy SSR

fuel gage sender unit-undefined-undefined-0.jpg You could use two resistors, Two different ohms specs for full and empty. Place resistor between proper wire colors in diagram. Turn on the key, If gage reacts properly to full and empty resistors, then I think the problem is the sending unit in gas tank. If not, the problem could be almost anywhere, wiring circuit--pcm--instrument cluster. I did see trouble codes relating to fuel gage sending unit. I hesitate to get into that? good luck

Gas gage does not work

Could be the gage or the sender unit. Have someone take the wire off the sender unit at the fuel tank and touch it to ground If the gage goes to full tank the replace the sender unit. Could also be a broken wire from the gage to sender

there are 2 sensors 1 on each side of the tank sounds like 1 has gone down there is a way to check the sensor readings by using the instrument pack self test I think you hold the button on the indicator switch and turn the ignition on then keep pressing until you find fuel readings

2008 jaguar s series gas gage quit working

probably not all that difficult to fix it you have patience. The needle going way past full is an indication of a short before the sender unit or in the sender unit. Pull the power wire from the sender unit and see what the gauge does. IT should stay on the empty mark. IT may be just a fuel sender unit .
