Question about 1994 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

We put a custom stereo system in a 1994 Jag XJ6. The guy who installed the system is gone. It worked great for 2 years now there is a problem with the ground wire. Something is tripping a fuse or a relay. I took it to a 'specialist' who charged me $100 to and said he replaced the radio fuse. It's been 3 months and I am back in the same position but I refuse to be taken for another $100. I don't care about the radio so much but this 'fuse' also cuts the a/c, power seats, tail lights and make it hard to steer. I am not convinced it is a fuse and think it may be a relay.. Any thoughts?

Sounds like way too many things on one circuit, have someone wire that radio to its own separate circuit,, but not the 100 dollar dude lol

HOW DO YOU OPEN THE GLOVEBOX ON A 1994 XJ6 SPORTS JAG ?

Since this car doesn't have a glove box, you don't open it. Most 1994 cars used what used to be the glove box space to install the passenger air bag. Later cars solved the space problem, and the glove box came back.

I need my stereo unlock code for my Jag how do I

I had the same problem! All you do is call your closest Jaguar dealer and give them the serial # that is under the radio(so you have to remove the radio) they did it over the phone for me and they will give you the code, it's usually gonna be a 1- 6 combo cause thats the numbers for programming if you notice.

Jaguar stereo is locked

I bought a 1991 Jag XJ6 and the stereo was locked. I called the Jaguar dealer and spoke with a person at the parts desk (Cole European in Walnut Creek CA). He asked for the vin# and looked up the code. I don't think you can plainly see the code in your vin# because my code does not exactly match any of the numbers in the vin#. He did not charge me for giving me the code number, but you might have go in with your license and registration to prove the car is yours.

The phones are no longer availabe (8-10 years) And you would not be able to get it hooked up anyway because originally it was an analog phone system and we are all digital now.

OIL ISSUE

I have a 94 4.0L and I use 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in the summer. It keeps the pressure up and it doesn't smoke when I start it because of the valve seals. It takes 8 quarts everytime including the filter. 2 gallon jugs. I change it about every 4,000 miles.
