If you hear the fuel pump come on when you put the key to the run position...then replace the crankshaft position sensor, I would also replace the camshaft position sensor as well because a failure there will have the same effect, and its cheap insurance against further breakdown. $80 for both at rockauto.com

When the crankshaft position sensor fails the engine will run for one second then shut off as if it ran out of gas.

Make sure your fuel pump is running; it should run about 5 seconds when you try to start the car. if not check the fuse and relay for the pump and the ground strap

Make sure your battery is in good condition with tight connections.

Replaced motor on 2004 suburban and roll over except not starting

If one of the coils are bad the computer will send a code that can be read with a scan tool. Check this and also check your fuel pressure reading with a pressure gauge hooked up to make sure you have pressure from the fuel pump. Even if you hear it, it may not be putting out the correct pressure or fuel filter could be clogged, the sock on the fuel pump could be collapsed, or could just have an air lock in the fuel system. Maybe try pulling the air horn on your throttle body and pouring a VERY small amount of gas into it to force fire while you are cranking. Good luck and hope this helps.

My car wont hold once gas is applied

I would look at both the throttle position sensor (TPS) and the Idle Air Control valve (IACV) associated with the throttle body. Determine that these are both functioning as they should before moving on with the search.

CRANKS OVER WONT START HAS SPARK,FUEL TO PRESSURE TESTING FITTING? 454 7.4 FUEL PUMP OK NEW FUEL FILTER WHAT DO I LOOK FOR NEXT.

It's not flooded is it? Try holding the gas pedal to the floor while trying to start it. If that don't work try taking an oil can and put some gasoline in it. Now try to squirt some gas into the intake somehow, there should be a hose that goes from the air cleaner tube the valve cover. Pull that hose off and squit some gas into the air cleaner tube. Will it fire like that? Are you getting a check engine light? It's possible the cam position sensor is bad you will still have spark but, not at the right time. Good luck.

Wont start or stay on

From the info you provided, it seems like it is not getting constant supply of fuel. I think that don't have a carburator. It has a TBI(Throttle Body Injector. You should hear a faint humming noise at the back coming from within the fuel tank when you turn the key on. Thats the fuel pump. Your fuel pump may have gone out.

Spinning but no fire or fuel to crank

Ok,well need a little more info, but here it goes. Is there power to the pump with the key on for 5 sec. or so is all it will stay on unless cranking. Check the fuel pressure. If there's no power anywhere but the starter then it's a bad fusible link. There's basically a wire that acts like a fuse & they're bolted to the main post on the starter. There could be some in the fuse box under the hood also. If the fuse link is bad,you can either use an ohm meter of just wiggle them with the key on until something lights up, then be sure to use the proper fuse link wire not just any wire type works safely. Make sure it's roughly the same length when you splice it in,longer it is the more resistence it handles, fire hazard. The under the hood fuses are just plug in. Write back if you need more help.
