1993 honda accord was overheating an going thru coolant. Replaced thermostat, not overheating anymore but still going thru coolant, have to fill thru radiator as the reservoir is still full. Why? Just got it back from mechanic who replaced radiator, and unkown to us filled it with stop leak .Why? Shady deal all around just bought car 2 months ago from a dealer and have had nothing but problems, Went to their mechanic originally after 1 week, because when restarting car after 10 minute trips woudnt start. He said he replaced the relay switch after having 3 weeks and trying to find the problem. Now its doing it again. He supposidly charged the dealer for that repair I paid for the raiator that cracked driving it backe to them. Now wondering if he just gave up on finding issue and returned to us. Paid 1650.00 and 250.00 for radiator and Ive driven it off and on for about 1 week out of 8 weeks. Were thinking blown headgasket? and what else?? do you think??? Thanks for any input. and dont ever buy a car from Northwest Auto Net 82nd blvd. Portland Oregon. Besides selling me a lemon their rude dishonest and so on. Even tried to give them a 1000.00 more for a 2500.00 car and they wanted to give me a 1900.00 car .This was 7 days after purchase. Wow unbelivable issues here. Thanks for letting me rant.

Hi Jeff:
I;d check the radiator cap. Coolant cannot get from the reservoir to the radiator unless there is vacuum to suck it into the rad when it cools down. If the rad cap gasket or the connecting hose are not functioning it would explain it.

Hi, most likely problem will be the radiator cap not holding sufficient pressure. Regards Phil.

SOURCE: 1991 Honda del Sol Overheating and funny idle

The idle problem kinda sounds like the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve on the intake manifold. Another idea is maybe coolant temp. sensor. And if it's leakings coolant still after replacing all those parts then i would say maybe the water pump is leaking since i believe on those motors its by the timing belt which is behind the plastic cover on the motor so maybe that's why you're not seeing fluid so much because it's in there. Hope some of this helpes, good luck.

SOURCE: 1994 Honda Civic LX\overheating within 2 mile drive

Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.

Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.

Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.

Stop leak can plug everything.

Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.

SOURCE: 1999 Honda Accord randomly shuts down while driving

The ignitor in the distributor needs changed. This little guy can cause massive headaches. They work intermittently, but once warm, they knock the ignition spark off.

Hope this helps, vote if you think so thanks.

Hi, you wern`t clear on the year and model of your Honda, and was the radiator and hose replaced by a sevice shop or yourselves? Possible causes of your car overheating may be caused by not ``bleeding`` the air out of the cooling system properly. Another problem may be a malfunctioning thermostsat, another problem may be the Electric rad fan not cycling on. There could be a few more causes but I would have to know more details of your car as mentioned above..

SOURCE: 2001 Honda civic overheating, losing coolant, damp passenger floorboard

Damp passenger floor sounds like a heater core. What a pain in the a__. Most probably the dash has to come out to replace. That is the only thing I know of that circulates engine coolant into the passenger compartment.
If you confirm this and want to fix it on the cheap, you can put a crossover hose in the engine compartment and bypass the heater core entirely. This is a $5 fix that works perfectly, mechanically speaking. Unfortunately, you will have no heat. Of course, you may decide that is a better option once you hear a quote on getting the heater core replaced.
Oh yeah, get a new mechanic.

The car will have to heat up a bit before the fans turn on. Chech the temp gauge. the temp should be at or near the half mark for the fans to come on

My '94 Honda Accord is overheating. The thermostat and sensor have been replaced, radiator is okay, fans are both working, so what might the problem be?

if your sure there is no air pocket hiding in the coolant system, pull the thermostat back out so the coolant doesn't have to reach 195 degrees before letting the coolant flow thru engine, and see if it still over heats,it might be an air pocket or head gasket, doing this will tell you exactly.
