Hello, I have a toyota hiace 06 plate d4d 2.5l common rail injection, the engine management light comes on and puts the van into limp mode when the revs are low, usually when I'm in slow moving traffic or stopped at the traffic lights. I've took it to toyota for diagnostics and they say its faulty injectors and quoted 2000 grand to replace them. The thing is, when the revs go above idle, from about 900rpm (van idles at 790) the van runs fine with no probs. So my question is, can the idle on these vans be turned up and if so how. Thanks

the most common cause of this type of the problem is associated with sucking control valve in the pump try to change SCV.
When rev count is his voltage to the pump increases but when it drops it affects the system.

1998 Toyota Grand Hiace 3.0 Diesel. My van just quit and I lost power steering and my glow plug lights do not come on and the motor turns over but sounds like no diesel.

When the engine stops, the power steering stops because the engine powers the power steering pump with the serpentine belt.

There could be many reasons the engine stopped and the fuel pump is just one of them. Check for DTCs and diagnose the vehicle electronically with a pro grade scan tool computer.

What causes 2kd engine not to gave revs but can start

wow NO YEAR TOLD.
no car told at all, just vague 2kd , hint, (a true challenge that)
it is some kind of toyota, but they have vast vast models.
some models sold are 40 million sold by them.

real name and is a DIESEL.
2KD-FTV???????????? 2001 sold first in a hi-ACe truck never sold in USA< this truck.
2.5 L ,2005 CRS, common rail injections at 29,000 PSI. 2000BAR
seen first in UK market, so says WIKI, my guiding light to the no car told pit.

this engine is used in the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Innova and Toyota Hiace. In some Central and South American countries, Toyota also offered this engine on the 2003-2006 4Runner in limited quantities.
to get specks on car or trucks we need year and model
books are indexed and sold by year and model and country
that is how the world works , sorry.

my guess
  1. bad fuel
  2. injectors partly clogged
  3. fuel rail pressure out of spec,
  4. we scan it as some engines have rail sensor there. and moe.
  5. filters clogged. any.
not bad glow plugs, as it does start.

Losing power when the lights is on of the motor electric problems

lots of KM there,

that feature is called limphome mode
it is for 3 reasons, to save damage to engine or trans
or to save you driving a sick car. all 3 is truth.
or saves the cat from meltdown.
or damage to transmission using wrong high gear going too slow this would wreck transmission clutch packs
the engine can do the same thing even back to 1988 year first EFI
injections.
Limphome can happen if any MAJOR sensor goes DEAD>
The EFI then uses Virtual created sensor. (software)
but is crude and burns lots of fuel and CAT overheats.
and loss of power.
or is low fuel pressure.

no engine told by you.(nor what fuel it burns)
no DTC errors scanned, did you scan it ?

the owners manual lost, telling what the real name if lamp is.

no dyna model told.
U300 to U400 , 3 tons "?
nor engine there.
diesel engine? LPG or Petrol? engine?
if D4D , fuel filters clean? diesel?

quote 2006
Even though they were built on the U300 and U400 platforms, for marketing purpose these models still used the Dyna 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and 350 names, indicating payload. The Dyna 100 was available with a 2.5 L (2,494 cc) D-4D common rail turbo diesel engine offering 88 PS (65 kW). The Dyna 150 is a chassis/cab version of the Dyna truck, with twin rear wheels, and an uprated 102 PS (75 kW) engine, shared with the HiLux and HiAce.
