Unless is was the one doing the testing I can not say that it will fix the problem. I would check the fuel pressure, the fact you have a rich code (P0172) means you may have excessive fuel pressure and the sensor is reading that.I assume this is a four or six cylinder and you have only one bank of cylinders. Check the fuel pressure before you do any parts replacing.
SOURCE: 3 codes present on my 2002 Envoy. p0172, p0420, and p0340,
Track the p0340 first camshaft timing is very important and could possibly cayse your other codes,Call your local GMC dealer I think I remember a bulletin about this code.

p0172 is not a volvo code so may not be correct but converted to volvo is code 250a long term fuel upper limit (lean vac leak) ck all vac hoses and replace the canister purge valve mounted on the radiator (about $40.00 part) then reset all codes
SOURCE: Check engine light. got 2 codes P0172 and p0175.
Unclip the 02 harness, then take out the 02 sensor. 5 minute job.

This is a common issue particularly with vehicles that have had some neglect to the oil change routine. The VVT solenoid on the top of the valve cover gets clogged with thickened or sludged oil.
Replace the VVT solenoid and gasket with a new unit and clear the codes.
SOURCE: Check engine light is on. OBD reads p0191 &
Replacement of the fuel pump would be the case here, unless the fuel filter needs to be changed. To find out, remove the fuel filter, and blow threw it with your mouth, kinda tast bad but it will tell you if the fuel filter is restricted. You should be able to blow threw it easy.
