I believe you have a problem with one of the speed sensors which operate from each wheel and will be fitted very close to the rotor....If you'd like to you can jack it up take off a wheel at a time and support with a stand as you'll need to stick your head in under the wheel arch to check and see if there is a sensor with a broken cable....They will all be fitted behind the wheel on the back plate or the inside of the stub axle housing....I'd suggest taking it for a scan and that will detect which wheel has the problem and cut down the work time....Regards Johngee10

SOrry for the short explantion, first time user, I usually have the BAS/ESP lights on, now when I start it up, they are not on. The brakes randomly come on, makes the antilock brake noise and the car slows down. Both of those lights flicker on and off.

  • Hi lostnomad !, I've changed my mind about you being able to use the vehicle safely, now that I understand the problem more fully....Still sounds like you have a problem with your traction control which is a part of the ABS system....The ABS system and traction control usually use the same wheel sensors....Basically the traction is controlled automatically by applying braking on the wheel which exceeds the rotation rate of the other wheels....When this happens it stops any loss of traction and stops the vehicle going out of control when cornering fast or on wet or slippery roads....You'll need a scan tool or someone who has one to identify and correct the fault....It sounds as if it could be a problem in the control unit or the pump of the ABS unit....

Thhe first action to take is to pin point the problem....but also it wouldn't do any harm to check the sensors I spoke of yesterday....I'd like to know how you get on and maybe help during whatever reply that has to be done....Would you keep me updated?....Regards Johngee

Hey thanks for the reply, the problem at the Dealership was a Clockspring. They want to charge about 305$ installed. Hope it works.

    Thanks again.

  • You're very welcome Nomad my friend. Sorry it cast you so much, but now we can both feel easy when you're out and about.

I hope you don't get too lost....But even if you do, half the fun of being lost, is finding your way again.

All the best and regards Johngee10

My esp/bas light stays on

the operators manual is clear on that, did you read that first?
it says "get the car serviced" clearly
if you work on cars, do you? thne we scan the systems with the scan tool first. to see if there are complex hard errors.
like the ABS sensors, (not bas) sensor dead. (ops a road hazard hit it and broke the wire there, dang.
then if no hard failures.
first is not ESP (that be last dead last)
the first is , the brake must work perfect if not , the ABS can not
work correctly with bad brakes.
so check fuses.
scan ABS for errors
then do a full brake inspection, takes me 2 hours. but my guess,
youve never done brakes, right,, your self?
not even a full inspection?
  1. leaks? (fluid)
  2. pads worn out?
  3. caliper pistons not sticking
  4. rotors not cracked, or wrecked, surfaces.
  5. caliper guide pins not seized. (they float free?)
  6. emg, brake not sticking on partially?
  7. wrong sized tires on car (or just one , omg)
  8. ABS sensor parts damaged at axles ends.?
  9. bad wheel bearing, seizing or loose.
etc... etc.... and more.

ABS/ Traction control light/BAS & brake light on in 2008 dodge grand caravan

It is safe to drive. You need a scan tool to get a code out of it. Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor going bad. All of these lights will work together normally. The traction control uses the ABS to gain traction, and the Brake Assist System is part of the stability control. Also uses the ABS.

Code c 2204 esb bas light stays on

Hi there:

DTC C2204 - Dynamics Sensor Internal

This light is on most likely due to a speed sensor failure. Either the rear one in the rear diff housing or the right or left front speed sensor. You will need someone with a full level scan tool to scan the ABS module to find which sensor it is and then replace that sensor accordingly.

The location of the Dynamic internal sensor: It is located in lower part of the centre console . exactly on the right side of the air bag module.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable from its battery post.
2. Remove the instrument panel center stack console.

3. Roll back the front floor carpet from under the instrument panel toward the rear of the vehicle for access to components.
4. Remove the fasteners (2), then instrument panel center support brackets (2). There is one bracket on each side of tunnel structure.

5. Disengage the right intermediate floor distribution duct (2) from the stud located on the floor support (3) and move it aside as necessary to access the dynamics sensor.

  1. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (3) at the dynamics sensor (2).
  2. Remove the screws (1) mounting the dynamics sensor to the mounting bracket on the floor pan tunnel (4).
  3. Remove the dynamics sensor (2).

The ABS ,BAS& ASR lights keep coming up

ABS--BAS

Most likely cause is the 'stop lamp switch'
It is a electric switch located on the brake pedal inside the car, about half way up on the brake pedal.
Pretty cheap too, I think the switch is only like $25 bucks.
2 connectors on the switch and then it turns out.
hope that helps

Ford focus abs light dose not light up at all . ( 99-1.6.petrol)

read your owner manual to see when the BAS light should be on during "prove out." Sometimes the prove out is after the engine starts.
Also, if the ABS ever fails, you always still have regular power brakes.

You should go on a gravel road and slam on the brakes to se if the anti'lock still functions. You will hear the BAS motor run and the pedal pulse. good luck
