The easiest way is to connect a hose to a top hose (the same diameter)and remove the radiator cap, this backward flush will get all the rust/dust from out of the system.then undo the clip on the bottom hose of the radiator to drain it before filling with the CORRECT antifreeze.then run the engine to full temp and undo the topmost heater hose to bleed any trapped air.i recommend 50/50 antifreeze to water.there are other ways but this works for me...

1997, Mercury Villager, NO HEAT. Flushed radiator, flushed heater core. Has a rear heating system, is there an additional heater core and maybe a valve in the rear heating system?

you have air trapped in system. If you could hang van like a deer in a tee, you could get the air out. Go to a sho with evac/fill equipment and have them purge the air. You are about 3 qts short of full

go here too. read cooling system files.

One mechanic said need new water pump another said new radiator for overheating problem ?

Overheating is caused by a thermostat being stuck closed, low fluid level, or blocked passages (which can be repaired by flushing out the engine and cooling system and installing new antifreeze).

My villager is not putting out heat and it is over

You have classic air trapped in the cooloing system. Go to a shop that has evac/fill equipment that will flush and fill your cooling system for $75.

Tell them you want the air completely out.

go to our site and read files on this topic. The problem is that the radiator cap is lower than the coolant chamber is the engine cylinder head.. If you could get van at 45 degree angle uphill and loosen radiator cap, you might be able to burp the system.

Should cost about $60 to have someone flush & fill. Call around ask about evac & fill equipment.

Heat blows cold when car is idling

You have an air pocket in the cooling system. To bled it out you will have to park vehicle on an incline or jack up the front end untill the radiator cap is higher than the heater core. The remove radiator cap and run engine until warm then hold rpm to about 1200 rpm's and top off coolant level until you have no more bubbles.
