Yes, it's typical for any vehicle to have the front brake pads and rotors replaced at 40,000 miles or less. A complete service would involve (2) new front brake rotors, (1 set) of new front brake pads (this includes 4 pads), brake fluid, silicone brake grease for the slide pins and possibly new slide pins (If they're corroded) and rubber seals for the slide pins. Because of the age of your vehicle, it's always a good idea to have the brake fluid changed (This means that your mechanic should bleed the brake system by opening the bleed screw on all (4) brake calipers). Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and will start to break down (Lower the boiling point) and cause rust inside the system making your brakes less effective. Look at the brake fluid reservoir under the hood. The fluid should appear either clear (Perfectly clean) or slightly yellowish. If it appears to be light to dark brown, it's time to change it. If I were you, I would shop around for prices at other reputable service shops. Your dealer is going to charge you top dollar for this service. Hope this helps.
Open hood,loosen lid to brake reservoir to be able to monitor fluid level. Removing the tires makes it easier to access bleed screws but not necessary on all vehicles. Start at the caliper farthest from the reservoir, attach tubing onto bleed screw so it is tight fitted on bleed nipple.Put enough brake fluid into clear container and put open end of tubing into fluid, ensure tube stays in fluid throughout entire process as to not suck air into system. Have your assistant sit in car and pump brake pedal three times and hold to floor, then loosen bleed screw just enough to relieve pressure in brake line, the brake pedal will sink right to the floor..this is normal. DO NOT RELEASE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL BLEED SCREW IS TIGHTENED AGAIN. Repeat this process until clear tube is full of brake fluid and no bubbles come out of caliper. Repeat steps for all calipers. To bleed the brakes 1st make sure the fuild level is full ,and you will need a assistant . have your assistant pump the brake petal three to four times then hold presure on petal (pushing down ) then open the bleeder valve on the left rear caliper ,have assistant push petal towards the floor until it stops and then hold it there until you close the bleeder valve ,then repeat process four to five time recheck brake fulid level then repeat same process on right rear caliper next go to right front and end on left front ,keep a eye on the fuild level so that it is not allowed to run out or you will have to start over again ,there is no speical procedure ,any other questions just ask
When you push the brake pedal do the rear brake lights come on?

Bleed the brake fluid a little, until the brake liners retract a tad more. After installing the wheels, hard braking in reverse will adjust the rear brakes just fine.
You obviously got air in your lines while you were changing the pads. The brakes now need bleeding. Once you bleed them, your pedal will come firm again. But the good news is that you will only have to bleed the front brakes....Please don't forget to rate this answer for me...
start at the passenger rear tire, have someone PUMP up brakes and hold pressure on them, release pressure by locating small bleeder screw, loosen screw 1/4 turn, brake fluid/air should come out, after brake petal reaches floor tighten bleeder, repeat process until only brake fluid comes out. go to driver side rear repeat, go to pass. side front repeat, go to driver side front repeat, after each bleeding make sure you check brake fluid in reservoir.
