Could be the Throttle Position Sensor. Just changed mine and it now idles properly. Mine would occasionally surge when at idle. Mine would also rev around 1500 to 1800 at startup and take a very long time coming down to normal idle. Changing the TPS has solved all my idle problems.
Check the following_
- Throttle cable adjustment.
- Throttle body gasket for cracks or damage.
- Throttle body for clogged.
- Idle Air Control Valve for jammed of clogged.
- Air or vacuum leaks in the intake manifold.
high idle could be caused by air inlet duct collapsed loose or air filter element clogged, idle air control valve failed, idle air inlet passage or throttle bore is dirty full of deposit, mass air flow is dirty out of calibration, throttle plate throttle shaft or linkage is damaged or leaking.have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.
Seems like you got a fuel pressure issue.Bogs down in 3rd. .Then idle high and low. Also check the MAP sensor its up along the firewall.Make sure the hose and electrical is connected,
Sounds like you may have disconnected the battery. Does the rough idle only happen when the defroster or A/C is on? If so clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner with the battery disconnected. When finished, drive it for 5 or so miles with the defroster / AC off to let the computer relearn the settings. This will solve your problem.
