Hi
that glow plug light is actually a grid type intake heater, should only come on when out side temps activate it and or on first start up, after the engine is at operating temp it my come active depending on outside temps,
so if that is cycling off and on it may be sorting out or has come to week to give out the needed heat, dealer and or auto zones of the world can give you your code answers, I hope this helps
Orange light mostly denotes the Malfunction Indication Lamp (MIL) or Check Engine Light (CEL) to tell the driver that there is fault in the engine electronic system. To locate the problem it need to be scanned with diagnostic computer or other wise it could also be checked by retrieving the codes manually.
jaguar x-type 2ltr diesel 2004 the glow plug warning light flashing, was told dirty fuel on fault code all fuel changed and filters. No problems for 20 miles untill engine was put under power on high revs went into limp mode, warning light glow plug falshing again? any ideas thanks.
I had a very similar problem (did not have the abs light) but had the other lights.
Changed fuel filter as the problem seemed to be a fuel pressure problem.
Turbo was back and no flashing heater light, engine light will go out after about three cold to hot starts as long as no other problem exists. It's worth a try as it is a cheap and relatively easy repaire to do. If not the answer take to a garage who can interrogate the computer.
A clogged EGR valve can cause loss of power on the x-type diesel. The best thing to do is to remove the valve and clean out all the carbon that will have built up inside the valve and re-fit. Also check your air filter
Same problem on mine was a block fuel filter (quite common). About £70 fitted by main dealer. I'd stay away from whoever told you the above and get a second opinion!
Sounds like your EGR valve has failed,They usually become gunged up and stick open or shut which will give you a loss of power. The valve is not the easiest thing to change but also not the hardest,The dealer will have to clear the trouble code from your car though....hope this helps
