The band adjustment in not a torque adjustment. Drop the main pan on the transmission. You will see the valve body with filter on it. At the rear drivers side you will see a round dome piece with a flat flange with four bolts in it. Remove the bolts and take this cover off. Now you will see a round piston with an adjustment screw in it. Break the jam nut loose and tighten the allen bolt in until tight. Back off five complete turns and reset jam nut. When you have the pan off, take note of how much clutch material is in it. If you have a lot it could be time to replace the clutches. Also it is a good idea to put in a new filter if you are in there. Good luck

I have 2002 Isuzu trooper 4X4, on a dashboard 2 lights are on, Engine Check and CHECK TRANS blinking every 2 seconds. Car itself operates very well, shifts gears etc. when I drive around town it works...

Have you checked for Diagnostic Fault Codes yet? Have your local auto parts store check for codes if you don't have access to a code reader. New Bluetooth OBD readers (ELM327) that pairs with your smartphone or laptop and a free app. (Called "Torque") Great reader for under $20 in most cases. Start there first. Is there a Temp Gauge for coolant? If so.......what is the operating temp doing during those highway trips? If the coolant is overheating, it may be heating the transmission too.
1. Check for codes.
2. Have cooling system checked, cleaned, flushed, and new coolant installed.

2001 Isuzu Trooper 4wd automatic trans. It will shift ou of 1st at about 20 mph into 2nd then loses power, rpm's drop until it slows to about 10mph then down shifts back to 1st. Any ideas why?

Sounds to me that your transmission is put itself into what is call (Limp Mode). This happens when the transmission fluid in the trans hydraulic valve body located on the bottom and in the trans pan are not within the parameters of the transmission computer. You can remove the trans pan and gasket to check for metallic material in the bottom of the pan. There is normally a strong magnet in the pan catch the material so I can't move freely through the transmission itself. It only takes a very small piece of foreign material to stop the flow of the valve body fluid. I would first take it to somewhere that had a automotive diagnostic scan tool that can read transmission codes to see if there are any active codes. Next you can drop the transmission pan yourself and look for material in it. Basically do a visually inspection and service the transmission fluid, gasket, and filter. Remember, all a automatic transmission is a extremely complicated fluid pump. If its pumping trans fluid properly it's probably working just fine. Been when the trans fluid gets hot, scorched, and stops moving. It will not work. Hope this helps

I have 2001 Isuzu trooper my problem with it now is the transmission light is flashing and the check engine light is on

Okay if you have checked you fluids and made sure they are full then you may need to reset the computer. You may also have a sensor switch problem. To check these problems you can go to auto zone or o'reilly's and borrow a diagnostic meter. That should give you the option to reset or give you the code to what else may be wrong. It's pretty easy you just plug it in and follow the on screen menu. They let you use it for free and it does a really good job. Hope that helps and good luck.

2001 trooper losing transmission fluid not find any leaks

Is it a automatic or standard if it is an auto.I would check the modulator valve on the trans, pull the vaccum line off and check for trans fluid in the line.

Just replaced front pump seal on transmission because diagnostics test said it was bad. replaced all spark plugs, diagnostics test also said EGR vavle had bad flow-nothing done. check engine light went off...

depending on the wear and mileage of your Trooper, I recommend taking it to a transmission shop for a maintanence and band adjustment, the systems you are relying on can be giving mixed values due to other variables (vacuum leaks, etc. for example) current condition could do alot of damage

If you live in the US Take it into an Auto Zone store and they will read off the stored code for you , once you have this you can determine your next course of action.
Other Auto supply outlets may offer the same service.

Hope this is of some help.

Auot transmission light

Your best bet to figure this out is to take the vehichle to a local parts store, like AutoZone, Napa, or Advance Auto Parts.  Once there you can request the to test the check light for you and they will bring a small handheld computer out to the SUV to check the codes and then you can look it up to see what the code error is for.  You can also take it to a mechanic but they will charge you to read the code.  Good luck.
