The transmission is shifted with a computer. The computer needs input signals in order to make a shift decision, There are three speed sensors (input, output, and vehicle speed) that must work for a shift to be comanded. I wouldrecomend you sheck for stored codes and check the vehicle speed sensor. Is the speedo working?

I am having the same problem but my code came up as 00264? The car is auto and seems to be stuck in a gear as well! It shifts thru gears just doesnt follow thru if you get what i mean! The battery was disc. today to put in a starter than suddenly, driving home, it just sounded like it was revving higher and stuck in the same gear... what can i do?

I installed a complete clutch & Flywheel. I popped outta 1st gear & won't go into any gear whatsoever. Linkage & slave cylinder work! feels like it's going into gear but when i let clutch out nothing

Isolate the problem. Sound like clutch is stuck and not disengaging. Engine off put in gear and rock the vehicle,, with help from a friend press clutch pedal while in gear and have friend push, you will know if the tranny is ok and clutch is stuck. Now check the clutch, slave etc for engagment and disengagment / Clutch linkage- movement/travel may need adjustment or you have something wrong in the reassembly..

2004 mazda 6 wont shift out of 1st gear smoothly. It whines, then finally catches. If it's cylinder (will be 3rd one) which number is it?

your gear selector linkage cable has come adrift from the linkage bracket just below the battery tray ,you can temporarily fix with two cable ties ,but will need to replace one of the two cables one is for neutral and the other is to select gear

How do I repair the gear shift?

Locate where the shift cable linkage mount to trans, check for good tight attachment to ball socket, then have some one move shift lever through gears watch to see if cable moves shift arm BOTH directions if not replace cable

96 Jetta 2.o liter has no reverse. have to put into reverse for 1st gear. does anyone know if this is linkage or clutch?

At the botton of the gearstick is a small clip that holds your gear stick in place, I had it on my V dub. The stick will slip into reverse but work 1st. It's a small job to replace, remove all the inside gear cowling, and lift out. You will see the clip broken, just take the circlip off, lift off the broken clip, replace with a new one, it's easy. Just Remember that when you put your car in 1st, (reverse) your reversing lights come on, giving the car behind you a bit of a shock, if you are sat at lights etc! Have fun, dave

Shift gear stuck

Almost certainly worn linkage rather than a transmission problem. Lubricate all the linkage joints. Might work after it cools down, too.
