Only other way to turn off the factory security system, besides using the key in the door, is with the factory key fob. You can get a key fob and have it programmed to your jeep, by an alarm shop. As for the overhead console, could just be a fuse blown or an electrical short. No way to tell except by checking it out.

Use key to unlock doors manually. This should deactivate alarm. Try all doors . The switch around the drivers door key cylinder may be faulty

When I unlock my jeep the alarm goes off.

On some cars/trucks/SUV's, the alarm will go off if the car is unlocked with the key or if the door is opened (even from inside the car with the alarm set). Unlocking with a key does not always turn off a car alarm. Best advice, go to the dealership to get a new key-less entry remote, or get a new alarm installed with a remote to override the original alarm system.

NEED A WAY TO DISARM THE SECURITY ALARM

ive had this happen changing batteries on grand cherokees-close the doors and with the door key lock and unlock the drivers side door with only the key.then try seeing if the security lite goes out and start the car. sometimes this doesnt work on dr. side and you have to do the same on passenger door. this is for the factory alarm.

How can i permanently remove the factory alarm on a 95 jeep gc limeted i6

be careful about that. there is a lot involved concern these alarms today. try just turning it off locate your fuse box or a small access panel around the steering column. youll find a button. push it sometimes the alarm needs to be sounding off.

Alarm activated, lights are flashing can't start vehicle

if alarm is activated, it could be shutting off the starter, hence no starting....you may have to have a locksmith or electronics place disable the alarm so you can at least drive the thing

Sounds like a fuse issue. check your panel for popped accessory fuse.

the overhead light issue may be the door close switch

Jeep alarm

Stokkee, if you find out, could you let me know? I have the same problem! I have a friend who used to work for the dealership, that said he could not even start to tell me how, because it is in the overhead console, the dash and under the hood, and everything is interconnected, and he was afraid my jeep would not run again. I agree it is frustrating. I have kicked a lot of stuff around because of it.

What I have started doing, is I lock all the doors with the electronic lock button, then I open the driver door manually, then I lock it from the outside, or lock it by hand from inside, so the alarm is not activated. I forget now and then, and open the passenger door, and it goes to honking. It is easy to stop, but still makes me mad.
