Is it difficult to change a fuel pump on a 2001 ford taurus.and where is it located

It will be in the fuel tank. The fuel tank will need to be lowered. It is not that difficult to due but if the tank has a lot of fuel in it, it will be extremely heavy. Letting the tank get out of control will mean spilt gas which can be a fire hazard. Not to mention the fact that you will have to deal with the weight of the tank. If it drops out of the car you can easily break the fuel lines which will cause you more problems.
