1991 Ford Thunderbird with a 3.8 V6 Started out running rough cold, like it was missing. Tuned it up, cleaned the injectors and throttle body. Running got more rough and at low idle. Found intake manifold leaking. Replaced gasket and now it runs ROUGHER and all the time. Shakes pretty harshly at low rpms, smoothes out at highway speeds. However it has plenty of power and is getting good gas mileage. Checked the compression in the cylinders three times now and all are between 120 and 135. Any thoughts as to the problem?

I think your car has a 7th injector called a cold start injector. Takes the place of a choke. If it does check n make sure it's working properly. That's all I can think of at this time. Hope it helps. Also sounds like you still have a pretty bad vacuum leak. Listen for hiss at idle. Good luck

2007 ford sport trac 4.0 v6 rough idle was told this truck has no IAC? New plugs wires cleaned throttle body been smoke tested no vacumm leaks rpms jump when cold level off once warm no hesitation

Not having an IAC would only affect idle speed. A rough idle could be a weak coil, or injector among other things. It takes more spark and fuel to fire a cylinder when the engine is cold.
Are you getting a trouble code for any one cylinder ?

Rough idle and shakes

Have you used fuel system cleaner in a while? Sometimes just dirty injectors can cause this. Also have you changed the air filter in the last year? Be sure to spray clean the throttle body when taking apart...These routine services can help wonders...as well as mileage:) Hope this helps. I like STP super concentrated in the black bottle...

1990 chevy blazer 350 ci throttle body fuel injected . the motor is flooding out u can see the injectors keep dumping fuel into the throttle body

Sounds like you have an injector leaking. Have someone just cycle the key on and off to run the fuel pump but don't crank the engine. If you see fuel dripping from the injectors, unbolt the injector cover on the throttle body, remove the injectors and replace the orings around the injectors.

Instructions on changing the timing cover gasket on a 1991 ford thunderbird with 3.8 liter v6 engine

first you have to diconnect throttle cable and trans kick down from throttle body. than disconnect wires and vacuum hoses and remove upper intake manifold plenum. that should give you access to valve covers . Remove bolts from covers and change gaskets. also replace the gasket on the upper intake plenum. install items in reverse order of removal. keep track of vacuum lines where the go when you remove . mark with tape their location.
