If the airbag light is on something in the system is broken. Go to AutoZone or similar and have them scan the airbag system for codes. My guess would be a faulty seat sensor or a faulty seat belt sensor
sounds like the transmission is in limp home mode where it won't shift out of second gear. this is a fail safe mode. If the check engine light is on too then its probably not seeing one of the speed sensors in the transmission. Just need to have the codes pulled in the transmission control module.
just had the same problem today...there is a small square false door just below the D on the shift plate...the tow guy put a pen into that door and i was able to shift it out of park. now the car won't shift gears as i drive because the car is in 'safe mode'. disconnect the battery to correct. the shifting issue is still unsolved but it appears to be an electrical issue in the transmission but NOT the actual transmission. hope this helps
