I have the same problem. The mechanic told me to try a new fuel filter and that if that didn't work it would be the fuel level sensor. That sensor is loctated in the fuel tank and is $1000 or better to replace.I have the same problem. My 01 Chevy venture just got a new fuel pump put in gas gauge still isn't working proper so had another fuel pump put in same problem. My relay fuse is good fuel pump fuse is good. I have to have my wires checked, make sure my sensor on top of pump connector wires are good. What else can I be looking for?
No it's not, if your van is running fine, fuel pump is good, just the fuel gauge sending unit is bad, to repair, the gas tank will have to come off, the sending unit sit on the same hanger the fuel pump is on.
This problem is caused by only one thing, the fuel GAUGE sending unit inside the gas tank is defective, here is the part u need to fix this problem.

U have a gauge problem, the quick test is the one u did, if it goes to full with sender is disconnected the sender signal is there, nothing left but either a poor connection to the gauge or the gauge itself, I would go with the gauge.
2000 chevy venture run good but my lights flickers and have to jump. After I jump the van and put my meeter on the battery its reading 14.volts at idle. I can drive around to store cut the van off come out it starts fine leave it overnite and it don't started.
