bad alternator? Alternator belt broke or slipping, major fuse box failure, harness wire at firewall (unplugged or melt down).

Change voltage regulator for 1998 ford explorer

The voltage regulator is integrated into the alternator. You need to replace the alternator as a unit. If the replacement alternator is supplied with an electrical pigtail, DO NOT get lazy and simply hook up the existing connector to the alternator. These connectors get hot and break down, resulting in the failure of the regulator. That is why the new connector is provided. You will void your alternator warranty and have early unit failure if you do not cut off the old connect and splice in the new one. If you are not capable of doing that, get a professional or someone who is capable to do it for you.

Ford explorer 1998 batterie not charger

Your battery is not charging? 1st check the connections at the battery. Make sure they are clean and tight. If not, the battery will not charge properly. If you can still drive the explorer, bring it to a parts store, where most will do a free check of the charging system to see what's wrong. If it can't be driven, remove the battery and bring that in for a free check to make sure it is ok. If the battery checks out ok, then you most likely need to replace the alternator.

Am just wondering if a 98 explorer 2 doors has same alternator as 99 explorer 2dr?

Just get both generic part numbers from autozone or O'Reillys. If you use the Ford numbers the year number can show a different number in their part number sequence. Whether you can see the Amps rating on the alternator without removal is iffy.
