Starter relay My starter relay went out on my 1999 saturn and I bought the part but cannot find where it is located. Does anyone know?

Solution #2 by dr4saturns was on the money. The bundle of wires was easy to get to and u can see where the wires connect (w/ flashlight). I wiggled the wires and .. Bam! Car started right up. I've been searching the internet (a lot!) and have seen many people with this same problem .. good battery, starter is good, dash lights work, headlights work but no dim when trying to start. No dome lights, no radio, no door chime, no door locks. Now I just need to find a fuse box but i'm not sure it's within my scope to replace, seems a bit complicated for a shadetree mechanic. There is no starter relay on a 99 Saturn.It's direct wired from Ignition switch.Purple wire at starter gets 12volts when key is turned to start.First place to check is the purple wire on the starter.Get a test light & see if there is power on that wire when turned to start.If Not,I would highly suspect your inside fuse box they have a problem with those fuse boxes burning a terminal on the forward 68 Way Connector.You can remove the fron drivers console trim panel near the gas pedal.Then reach in behind the fuse block & wiggle the wires while you try to start the engine.If it takes off you found the problem,bad fuse box.The cheapest way is a used one.Make sure it's the same part# as the bad one.hope this helps

The first answer is the correct one on the question of location. As stated wrapped in black electrical tape just above the blue bundle.

My daughter's 99 SL2 had the same problem and I went through all kinds of gyrations trying to find the starter relay (HATE working under the dash!).

As you are sitting in the driver's seat, put your left foot even with the brake pedal and move it as far to the left as it will go. It should now be against the kick panel. The relay will be about 12 inches above. It's wrapped in electrical tape onto a wire bundle, so you'll have to cut away some tape to get to it. The hardest part isn't changing it out, it's finding the #$@! thing.
