Hi, I have an ignition problem. It's very hard to explain but I will do my best. When I put the key in and turn the key, there is only 2 clicks, when there is supposed to he 3. When the engine is started, my low beams, indicators, high beams and stereo don't work, but when I turn the key back a little, the electronics work fine. When I turned the Key back a little, the key it actually in the off position but the car is still running. It is as if it has moved forward or something. So when I turn the car off completely, it doesn't go all the way back (there is no last click) :( please help!!!

This is one of two problems, first it may be a bad ignition cykinder lock or the ignition switch itself, you will need to remove the cylinder lock this is the key part of the ignition, make sure nothing is broken, if thats fine then remove and replace the electrical ignition switch, hope this helps.

Why won't my ignition key turn over and my steering wheel is locked in place at the sametime?

I'm assuming you mean your key wont turn in the ignition. first off check to make sure the car is in park. then what you gotta do is put in the key and put a little pressure as if turning but dont turn too hard, then even though the steering wheel is locked you will have to try to move it a little, if you parked with your tires turned then you will want to try to turn the wheel in the same direction, (even locked you should be able to move it about a half inch) you will have to turn the wheel hard but it should move enough to allow the key to turn, you may have to jiggle the key a little in the ignition but it should eventually turn, just remember not to try turning the key too hard, the extra force wont make it go but can cause the key to break. this tends to happen when you turn the car off andthe steering wheel gets locked if the wheels are turned hard in either direction. also if multiple attempts at this still dont work, try taking the key out and turning it over and trying again. Even though both sides of the key are identicle, because of wear on the key and the ignition, sometimes when the wheel locks the ignition, it will only turn if the key is put in a certain way. Hope this helps, good luck

Ignition key will not turn in my 2006 durango

You might have a worn out key and/or ignition lock cylinder. OR, you might have the steering column locked. Try turning the wheel hard to the left while turning the key, and then turning the wheel hard to the right and turn the key. Best of luck!

HI--have 2000 Grand Cherokee--ran fine Fri --today neither key will turn the ignition cylinder. Have tried tapping, jiggling, etc for 2 hrs Battery is almost new--has power. Is it ignition cylinder that...

Try using your spare key (when you say neither, is this what you mean), spray a touch of WD40/lubricant in there, when you put the key in there try putting it in gently and make sure it goes in all the way, sometimes than lass tiny bit can make a dfferance. If you do have to take it out, a master locksmith can fix it up for you, it might be cheaper than replacement, compare prices. Make sure you jiggle the steering wheel as you try turning the key as well!!

I own a chevy blazer and steering locked and key wont turn

Hi the chances are the steering lock has locked in a funny position and this is causing it to stay locked.
what you need to do is put the key in the ignition then get hold of the steering wheel and turn it to the left and right as hard as you can whilst turning the key when the steering wheel is turned one way it should unlock the lock and allow you to drive your vehicle.

the wheel may be hard to turn so have the key in the ignition the turn the steering wheel quite hard whilst turning the key doing this should get the lock off and allow you to drive.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

also try putting the key in the other way round as it might be wore on the one side so also give that a try.

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Key will not turn to start car.

HI, the ignition switch mechanism is faulty at this point. this will cause the switch mech to become jammed at times. this will also cause you to snap your master key as well. the best action will be to replace the ignition switch mechanism. The lock latch is malfunctioning.(not able to disengage properly)

1996 Chevy Cav. When i put key in to ignition,

Hi Jamie,
As you turn the key, **** the steering wheel hard side-to-side. The anti-theft interlock between the ignition switch and the steering is just jammed. Happens to all cars from time-to-time, and that's the fix.

1998 nissan altima gxe -ignition problem

Hi what is happening is that your turn off your car and left the wheels turned to one side and specially if your car is parke in a hill what you have to do is to force the steering wheel to the same direction of your wheels this will free up the ignition switch it is going to be hard let me tell you but it will work and this is why your shift don't work once you have the ignition switch free then your shift will work again

1999 Honda Accord, 5 speed

It could either be a BAD starter or a BAD ignition they both would have the same symptoms of a "CLICK" alone. I would most likely lean toward the ignition because the key is difficult to turn but its not all ways true that key is tight because the ignition is bad, although possible. It could just mean a bad ignition cylinder(just the key part why its tight) I want you to do a test for me. With clutch engaged turn key to start position and listen for click on starter in the hood, when trying to start. If you hear starter click then the ignition switch is good. (Before you do this make sure that battery is FULLY CHARGED).STARTER IS AT FAULT. IF no clicking is heard coming from starter check starter fuse and if its good YOU have a BAD ignition switch. Contact if you need more hep and Thanks for using FIX YA
