You should never try to take apart the airbag unless you absolutely know what you are doing for you can injure yourself very seriously. But on that note, disconnect the battery.Behind where you grab on the steering wheel there should be some screws.Take those out and remove the front of the center of the steering wheel. That will give you access to the airbag. You may have to have special tools to take the airbag itself out. Then there should be the switch. If it is not there you might have to remove the whole steering wheel by removing the center nut then use a steering wheel puller to take the steering wheel off.It should be located on the steering wheel shaft.

I can't get my horn to work on my 2001 dodge caravan.

Do you have a air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? I ask this because , if the air bag light is lit , could be a clock spring problem . I know ,what the heck is this guy talking about . You have a air bag on the steering wheel ,the horn button is on the steering wheel . The clock spring is located under the steering wheel , in the top of the steering coulmn . It has flat wire tape in side that allows the steering wheel to be turned full left to full right , keeping the horn , air bag , an any other button's on the steering wheel connected electricly to the vehicle. Plus there is a relay , when you push the horn button it energizes the relay turning on the horns. Watch these videos , will explain a little better .

My horn on my 1994 Ford Taurus doesn't work and the fuse is fine I just reconnected the wire that connects the two small horns but it still won't work.can u give me an idea on how to fix it

Check the horn relay and for voltage at the horn. If you are getting voltage to the horn, then the it could be that the horns themselves are bad.

I have a 2000 ford escort coupe and the horn stopped working. I checked the fuse and it is blown. Put in a new fuse, the horn just makes a low screeching noise constant. There is an alarm on the car, but...

Any thoughts on how to fix the horn? Test the electrical circuit , horn relay , switches !

Horn wont work but works with the panic button

The computer controls the horn and looks for a signal from the Remote Keyless Entry system or the horn button. Due to the fact that the horn works with the RKE but not when you press the horn button, would cause me to suspect that the Clock Spring mechanism, which is also used to activate the Driver's Air Bag, might be malfunctioning. When the Clock Spring breaks, the computer does not get a signal from the horn button so it can not opperate the horn. If I remember correctly, when the Clock Spring goes out, the Air Bag light on the dash either does not light up for 2 seconds when you first start the vehicle, or it comes on and stays on all the time, which is to let you know that the Air Bag is not functioning, and the primary cause is the Clock Spring. So check your owners manual to see if the Air Bag warning light on the dash is functioning normally. Your local Chrysler dealer can quickly and easily check the function of the Clock Spring, Horn, and Air Bag system, through the use of the DRB scan tool. If it is in fact the Clock Spring that is malfunctioning, the Air Bag module and the steering wheel must be removed in order to replace the Clock Spring, which should be left to a trained professional, that has been educated on the proper handling of the Air Bag system. You wouldn't want to accidentally deploy the Air Bag, as you could be injured. That and Air Bag modules can be expensive to replace.

My horn stopped working and the fuse is ok i need to know were to look now

It might be the switch in the steering wheel, to find out for sure, take a piece of wire long enough to reach the horn from the battery,
hook one end to the positive terminal of battery, touch the wire connection at the horn with the other end, if it blows, the switch in the steering wheel is bad. ( be careful not to touch any metal parts with the wire, you will get sparks).

Would appreciate help for a Toyota Corolla 2007 non-working horn.

If the horn works with direct connection, and fuse, relay, and circuit breaker are all good, it's the switch in the steering wheel. If it is anything like the chrysler auto's, the switch and the air bag module is all one unit, can't replace just the switch, the whole thing, and it's about $700 to $800 for those units, at least it is here, and can only get them at a dealer.

2002 Tahoe horn srated blowing for no cause and will not stop.

Hello, although from your brief description of fault May I offer assistance? Not on a Chevrolet but a Volvo 740, the Button on the steering wheel for the horn are Copper semi circular type and sprung loaded. Me being ham fisted with annoyance pushed the button too hard, it worked ok at the time of use but a few minutes later World WAR 3! had to pull plug on horns themselves to silence them.
So FixYa resolution? Check Horn button itself Cuz it'll be stuck!

1998 Ford windstar horn wiring

There is something called a clock spring in the column that is used for the airbag, horn and cruise control buttons. This clock spring if messed with will cause a/bag light to come on and possibly cause a/bag failure if there is a collision. DON"T mess with the wiring in the column. Run new wires in to the horn or install an a/market horn.
