99 Honda Accord EX V6 check engine light comes on and blinks ten times when I start the car along with the SRS light being on for a short period of time. The other problem has been the car shutting off when it feels like it while driving.

Your vehicle may be part of a 2002 honda/acura recall. Faulty ignition switch!! Typical symptoms are: Random stalls, hard start, no spark, power loss (symptoms progress in hotter weather). When the vehicle stalls/shuts off while in motion, usually the speedometer drops to "0" while in motion. Some warning light not lit when ignition is set to "on" (chk engine/ABS/Brake etc.). Call your local dealer with your VIN# on hand and check if your vehicle is part of the recall. Refer to faulty ignition switches, affected years (1998-2002 models), accords/preludes/pilot/Odyssey/Civic/CR-V and various Acura models.

Do you think they would replace this again if I had the recall taken care of when it was issued? What you posted does make perfect sense as that is what is happening. Thanks much.

If the part was never replaced, I assume they would replace for free!! But I am unsure if they have a time frame. I would recommend calling them for info, they will be able to pull info on your vehicle with your VIN#. Hopefully this help'd!!

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd add my .02 I had the same exact issues and when I took it to the dealer, they told me that my car (Accord 1999) was part of that recall IslandGuy mentioned. However, in my case that was not the reason. They replaced the ignition switch as part of the recall, but they told me that my ignition coil was just old and worn, which was creating my problems.

What was the point of this post? the issue stated above includes "certain warning lights not lit in conjunction with the NO SPARK condition"!!If your vehicle does not exhibit all symptoms listed above by me, then you should post elsewhere! Not all "no spark", "stalling" conditions are related to the recall/defective switch! thanks

Sounds like your O2 sensor is malfunctioning. When the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into a preset mode bypassing the O2 sensor and that's why it suddenly runs good. Have the O2 sensor checked. You can also have the trouble codes read and they should point you in the same direction.

I have a 2002 Honda EX coupe with about 70k miles. The check engine light came on a few weeks ago. About a week ago, it started to blink periodically. The last time the check engine light came on (about 1...

Check engine light comes on because engine computer has detected a fault. It could be anything, from a cheap sensor to an important component out of specifications, to a service reminder. Most shops (not necessarily Honda dealers, ) have the diagnostic equipment to hook it up to your car and tell you what is wrong, before fixing anything. Usual rates for this diagnostic is below $100, including quote for repair.

My daughters 1998 honda accord ex keeps blowing fuses she is having to replace the brake light fuse after we replaced the brake light switch when she changed the fuse last the horn blew and she was shocked...

The horn and rear brake lights are on the same fuse. Eventually the horns rust out like on my 1998 CRV. Once I replaced the horns, I could put in a new fuse without it blowing every time I sounded the horn. Problems still remain, namely: the cruise control does not engage and the remote start only starts the engine that runs for two seconds then dies. Still looking for an answer. It's a "Code Alarm" with Codestart dated 11/24/99.

Honda Accord 98 EX coupe - 3L V6 starting problem

I would take the vehicle to a different shop.
You can go to Autozone , They can scan the vehicle for free. There maybe a codes stored and auto zone can tell you what the code means. You can also check the price of ignition coils with them. The price the shop is asking is rediculous . I am guessing a coil should not be no more then 100.00 and labor time 1.5 hours with diagnosis time. I think you can get an estimate for repairs at Pep boy for a lot less. Good Luck .

Anti theft light blinking on stock radio in 92 honda accord

You must go through your local honda dealer, (usually parts department) give them the numbers off the labels on the radio, along with the VIN number of the car. may have to prove ownership. They can call Honda and get that information for you. Process is alot easier if you someone that works in the parts department, if not the honda parts department, then another parts department at another car dealer.
