Power door lock are stuck in the unlocked position. There are no power door fuses in the fuse box under the hood. In the owners manual it says to reset the locks by closing all the doors, put the key in the ignition and turn the key into the on and off mode without turning over the engine 4 times ending in the off position and within 10 sec click the door lock switch into the lock position. A chime will sound and the locks should reset. This worked for about a week and it happened again, this time the reset did not work. Help.

I did the thing pulling the 20am IOD fuse out and it seemed to work great! I was going to go back to the dealership.... stupidness....
My dad is a mechanic and he said that the fuse may just have to be replaced.

The solution is simple, take your vehicle to a dealer and have your body control module reprogrammed. You do not need to replace the controller. I have performed this repair numerous times. I don't know what other dealers charge but i usually charge a one hour labor charge. Price will vary depending on labor rates. I've never had one come back for the same problem after performing the flash.

Hi, The overall problem is with the Body Control Module (BCM). The dealer may offer to re-flash it as it's a software problem. BUt you need the BCM replaced. The cost ranges depending upon your dealer butif you are out of warrantly and the cost is over $150 - $175 USD, call Chrysler 1-800-992-1997 and tell them your ordeal. Chrysler will ask the dealer to send them your BCM so they can program your milage into the module and then return it to you. Then ask the Chrysler rep (Or dodge person) to reduce the cost as this is their software issue, and it was bad from the start. This will Work!!!

Try to reset on board computer....... remove the battery cable (negative). let it unhook for awhile or one hour.
Install again the cable, test your power lock.

THis should work fine.

I did it 4 time in last two month pulling out 20 amp IDO fuse and don't know how many time I have to keep doing it in future. Is there a permanent solution for this? Will it corrupt the program set in the car or damage other system?

Go under the hood, into the fuse box, pull the 20amp IDO fuse for 20 seconds, plug it back in and it should be fine. Or, take it the dealer and pay them $100+ to basically do the same thing. No guarantees how long it will last (weeks, months?) but it will get you through and it's free. It may be triggered by a power lock actuator going out, but I'm not sure. I'm still trying to figure this out on my own 05 GC. Hope this helps and saves you a trip to the dealer.

I have an 05 chevy malibu and the automatic door locks wont work. I checked the fuse yesterday and found where it is, pulled it out and after putting it back in the correct spot they stopped working.

Your question as stated is missing clarity.

Do you mean power lock buttons were functional but automatic lock/unlock stopped working. Then after removing and reinserting the lock fuse, none of the lock functions work?

The BCM controls activation of all the lock actuators. The power lock/unlock buttons at the doors request the BCM to power the specific door lock with the appropriate polarity to lock or unlock. Further, the BCM has inputs from the ignition switch and the transmission selector to issue the operator programmable automatic lock/unlock.

The typical single point of failure for all door locks is the drivers switch assembly, but it requires several troubleshooting steps to isolate other potential faults.

2006 Grand Caravan horn not working but cruise works and no warning lights on dash, also both back door locks not operating by switch or FOB, relay not making any noise when trying horn

Check fuse F8 in the engine fusebox. It supplies power to the horn. I cannot find a fuse for the power locks, so it is possible that the F8 fuse also supplies power to the locks.

Power door lock on driver side has stop working

The problem is most likely the switch/plunger .
You will need to take off the door panel and look inside, with an electrical tester, and see what has failed.
The switch/plungers are quite cheaply made, and fail often.
God bless your efforts.

My power door locks stopped working. When I press

The locks don't work from any switch or just the driver's door switch ? The door locks are controlled by the BCM - body control module , that's were the clicking you hear is coming from there are no fuse's that are marked for the locks , fuse's for the BCM .

Door Lock System Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
• Driver door lock switch -- Uses a single signal wire for both lock and unlock switch activations
• Front passenger door lock switch -- Uses a single signal wire for both lock and unlock switch activations
• BCM -- Class 2 module which requires programming when replaced
• Reversible door lock actuators in each of the doors
• BCM PWR 15A fuse -- Located in the BCM fuse panel, supplies power for the door lock system

The BCM PWR fuse supplies battery positive voltage to the BCM for the door lock system.
The BCM supplies and monitors a reference voltage to the door lock switch through the door lock switch lock/unlock signal circuit. The door lock switch also receives a constant ground source. If a door lock switch is placed in the lock position, the reference voltage is taken directly to ground and the BCM senses 0.0 volts on the signal circuit. If a door lock switch is placed in the unlock position, the reference voltage is taken to ground through a 15k ohm resister that is internal to the door lock switches and senses approximately 2.9 volts on the signal circuit. This is how the BCM determines what portion of the door lock switch was activated.
The BCM, upon receipt of a door lock switch lock or unlock signal, will switch the appropriate door lock actuator control circuits to battery positive voltage. The opposing side of the door lock actuators are connected to ground internally within the BCM through the other door lock actuator control circuit and the doors will lock or unlock appropriately.
Vehicles without keyless entry have two internal drivers in the BCM to control the door lock actuators. All door lock and all door unlock. Vehicles equipped with keyless entry have three internal drivers in the BCM. Driver door unlock, passenger door unlock and all door lock. This is done to isolate the driver door lock actuator so it can be unlocked by itself using the keyless entry transmitter.

Door locks do not work with the buttons fuse is good and i can make the locks work when i use my test light .i unpluged the wireing harness that goes into the power lock a stuck my test ligh into the lock...

A bad switch would not prevent the remote control receiver or another door lock switch from providing power to the lock unit. Other possibilities include a break in the wiring harness, most likely where it goes from the vehicle body into the door. and corrosion in the connector.

If the door locks and unlocks with the remote unit or with other lock buttons in the vehicle, most of the wiring harness is verified good; only the wiring to the switch that doesn't work is suspect. There are several tests that can be carried out to isolate the problem. One (if you have a way to identify the pins such as matching wires on the switch connector with those on the lock unit connector) is to unplug the switch and check the contacts for continuity while you operate the switch. You can (with the lock fuse removed so you don't risk damaging your meter) measure the resistance of the lock unit to ground from the switch connector - this verifies the wiring harness at the switch. If this checks out, put the fuse back in and measure voltage on the incoming power lead to the switch to verify that wire is good. Note: oxidation (tarnish) in the connector may prevent an adequate connection even though the wiring passes the previous tests. If the connector pins or sockets appear to be tarnished, clean them with a soft white pencil eraser if possible; otherwise use electrical contact cleaner. Do not use electric motor cleaner; that could damage the plastic.

On some vehicles, it is possible to disassemble the switch unit and clean the contacts, but you have to be very careful not to break the plastic hook tabs that hold it together. The springs in the switches can be tricky to work with also, so be careful when you take it apart so pieces don't fly away or fall out before you can see where they belong. If you discover a broken or cracked switch actuator or contact mount (part of the switch case), you may be able to repair it with ABS plastic pipe glue or JB-Weld or similar metal-filled epoxy. You can try using metal-filled epoxy to build up a worn actuator surface - put on a dab and file it to the correct shape when it is cured.

Power locks do not work- where are the fuses inside the the van

The problem is the BCM. The fix is a software update. Resetting the computer by removing and then replacing the 20 amp fuse marked 10D in the fuse box under the hood next to the battery is a temporary fix.
