2008 Acadia....48000 miles....then tranny wouldn't shift beyond 2nd or 3rd. Dealer "repaired" it, not a Serta replacement. Then, 20,000 miles later, same thing happened. It's in the shop now. I get a free loaner....great-- but I'll never trust the Acadia tranny again. hey john. ya..funny chev trannys. try idling it , selecting every gear, pausing for 2 seconds at each selection. make note of where the fluid is going? make note if it is happening while hot or cold.
Also change the fluid and screen or filter. they do make some metal and that could also be a cause. good luck!

96 gm trucks had a proble with third gear burning out because of a ground issue from pcm..there was a bulletin for adding a new ground for third gear control circuit...aftermarket trans shops do not remember this problem and it is often overlooked..take to local dealership and you should be able to get problem resolved

rec check fluid first. If trans fluid hasn't been changed in last 30,000 miles change fluid, filter and pan gasket. At that time inspect for foreign materials in bottom of pan or on magnet if you have one. If truck has over 100K and fluid was never changed you may have more problems if changing the fluid.
