First check your coolant level. If the coolant system is full, then it is probably the passage doors inside the heater/AC case not operating properly. A door or its actuator has a malfunction. Most actuators are vacuum controls, although some are electric motor operated. Turn Heater on and set temp. control on high-this should cause the actuators to respond by opening some inner doors. So when you turn the blower on, air is forced across the heater core (the little coolant filled "radiator" in the case), and warm air comes out the vents. Watch or listen for the actuators to respond when you use the heater controls. There may be several actuators on the heater case, situated all around, but they are on the outside of the case, right near the inner door they operate.

Sounds like you may have a GEM module failure.It's one of Ford's operating modules that are super prone to do exactly what you describe, and at 13 years old, is not surprising

You have to get it through a ford dealer.

check for a blown fuse under dash drivers side

Check in the back of the radio, maybe in there you must have one label with the serial code number.

Of course the obvious, check that the fuse is good. Once you have determined the fuse is operational, you would need to pull the radio and check at the power connector to see if it has power. Assuming you have power to the unit and it still is not coming on there is a strong possibility something in the radio power supply went out. Unfortunately like an electric light bulb, it rarely burns out while operating. Only when you turn it on does it go out. The process of applying power to any electronic device generates heat, and if it has a weak spot that is when it is most likely to burn out.
