I want to know what the resistance for the sub fuel tank sender unit please.
Very Hard!!!! There are no specs on this, the only way out is to go to your nearest dealer and look at a sender unit and measure its resistance and compare the 2 sender units resistance. It should be measured in Kilo holms, the way to measure it is read the resistance when the floats at its 'lowest' point, and the resistance sould either increase or decrease when you move the float 'up', this depends on what resistance the fuelguage requires, to test if the fuel guage works,'take the positive cable that plugs into the sender unit, fuse it with a low ampeage fuse and connect it to body/chassis while key 'on' and check fuel guage, it must go to full position, there could be another problem, check cables for opencircuits, and check earth(-)connection to the sender unit, plse post to me for further assistance Mishdaman.....

I have a problem with my main fuel tank sender on a 96 landcruiser.
Do I have to drop the tank to test the sender or is there an easier way?
Sometimes over rough tracks the gauge will work, but mostly the gauge sits on half full.
Could this be a sticking float, bad earth or broken sender?
Any suggestions?
