This may be a problem with the ribbon contact under the steering wheel know as the "clockspring drum" It can also be the switch. Before doing any work make darn sure you disarm the Airbag system, it can go off and badly injure you.

Can you confirm which radio you have and also type of phone, Iphone, android or windows -etc.
Do you want to play music through the radio or is it just the phone connection?
Sounds like you may need to look at the bluetooth frequency's used ie 4.02 and 4.04 - if you can go into sub-menus on bluetooth settings there is an option usually to 'use another voice connection' or something similar - it sounds like one or the other unit is using 4.04 and the other 4.02 - so they connect but the audio element isnt syncing together - Check 'about' bluetooth on your phone - it may tell you if it uses 4.02 band or 4.04 - I would suggest if you knock all settings to the older 4.02 , then things should sync up fully - its the older technology standard, - hope this helps.
